Most positive string surprise ever - whats yours?

Mine are R. Cocco´s in nickel RC 4FN (45-65-80-100).
Except the price I cannot find a single thing I´d change. I might be set for good with these

Dunlop SuperBrights of course! Was totally shocked by the crispness and clarity of these, especially after using the regular Dunlops a few times. I've never used a more musical sounding string, so thankful I tried them. Every one of my basses wears them now. Normal strings are boring an uninspiring to me now

Yep. The EB Cobalt flats are simply outstanding strings for the tone I'm going for. At least with fretless. I'm intrigued by the Super Brights, though. I might try them on my fretted Jazz.

LaBella Gold tapewounds. Why more people haven't tried them is beyond me.
Smooth as smooth can be and they sound even more expressive than the copper tapewounds.
I might never buy anything else.

I'm not. I'm thinking that for my fretted Jazz I'd try something with more hi end clarity for chording. I wonder if they'll fit my Mustang.... chording is definitely easier on the short scale.

Thomastik JR344. After four months they sound exactly like the firts day. When I bought another set for my other bass, same sound.
Used them on a Mustang, in the JR324 set, and they were awsome.
Perfect feel, perfect gauge and tension, incredible sound.

Try them and the cobalts on the jazz. The cobalts have plenty of high end clarity.

I don't think either will fit the Mustang. You'll end up wrapping the meat of the string around the E string tuner. You might get away with it with the super brights, but not the flats.

That's probably true (regarding wrap). I'll have to ask Jason!

Edited to add: with the sale I couldn't pass up checking the Super Brights out, ordered a light gauge set.

Carvin Branded La Bella. Softer tension with consistent tone long term and basically "good" but not spectacular for cheap. (I'm all about cheap)

Ya know, Fender NPS strings are pretty good. They don’t last long, at least for me, but I do like their tone when new. I recently bought a few sets to try out on my various basses. They sounded great.
