the warwick is 650 on gc and mf and i do like jazz basses.three of these choices have jazz pickups

Oh i didnt know the wick price. Sorry bout that and yes i know there are three with the jazz config. But im a fender type of guy. So i stick with em for the most pary

I would splurge a bit more and get the Warwick with the 2-band preamp...it really does a lot to light up the pickups and bring the bass to life. Having played both, I bought the active version and reiterate my delight in doing so every time I play it.

I agree with vanillathundah, I would go for an active...

Funny thing: I have both a Warwick corvette std. bubinga active, a fender jazz ( a mexican that I upgraded the electronics for some vintage emg's and a badass bridge) and a Btb (6 strings)...
When I bought the corvette I prefered active electronics because it was too noisy for me as I play death metal and have distorted/overdriven sound, there was a big hum in the amps at the store I tried (bad electricity), without distortion... lol So I figured that should be the same on stage in small clubs...

I prefer a lot the warwick than the fender, much more beautiful low end punch and high mids... that's powerful low, fat and cuts well... and you can bypass the eq for a more transparent "passive" kind sound...

But if "you" prefer a more classical fender sound I would suggest you to search for a good american jazz one, for about (or a little less) the same price than a german made wicks corvette. They are much more solid, stable neck, sound fuller and feel better than the other fender made elsewhere... I owned one in the past, sold "her" because I needed money for a 6 strings sr406 Ibanez and regrets my fender at that time... lol

I don't know the mtd's so no comments on it and I have a btb 6 string for sell right now, these Btb's are ok but I don't like the 35" scale feel and sound... however all the Ibanez basses I have owned have great solid necks... But now I think that would be my last choice...

It's just my experiences and opinions with these basses and hope it will help a bit... but as an other said : The better is "take the time" and try... Any bass is different and there is surely one that will make it for you... lol

The one that feels the best in your hands and inspires you to play.

I cannot agree with this enough.

If at all possible, please go out and try every single bass in your price range. Don't limit yourself by brand names. If there's a certain bass you cannot find, like let's say the BTB, play the lower and higher quality versions. It'll help you understand what the middle one will be like.

When I bought my last bass, I surfed here, read reviews, made a few mental notes of what to try and went out. I checked out 2 places over 2 days and about 10-15 basses. I walked out spending less (woohoo!), and with a bass that felt like I owned for the past 5 years. I still can't put it down.
