or,
"Hey I know this bass intro, this is that <insert> song"
Most "bassy" intro would have to be Knight Jumps Queen by Annihilator IMO. But as for the distinguishable bass intro, everyone knows For Whom The Bell Tolls because of it's crazy bass intro.

i think its pretty obvouis by now every one knows my girl is a very memorable bass intro, so i wont say it again.

For me, Gustav Holst's "Mars, The Bringer of War" takes the cake.
Then there's also Claypool's "Holy Mackerel"
And don't forgot Mr. Big's "Addicted to that Rush" (well, for me atleast)
When I first read the thread title, I immediately thought "Another One Bites the Dust" That's the most applicable of everything I could possibly mention.

I think this is actually a bit of a no-brainer but I can't believe no-one has mentioned it. I mean think about it subjectively, what is the one song that when you hear 5 seconds of that everyone from a teenager to a middleaged and beyond person will instantly recognise? Would the average teenager recognise "Come Together"? Would your typical middle of the road Joe know "For Whome the Bell Tolls"? What is the one song you hear every kid play when they go to check out basses? The "Stairway to Heaven" of bass if you will?
