"Music is an art form whose medium is sound and silence. Common elements of music are pitch (which governs melody and harmony), rhythm (and its associated concepts tempo, meter, and articulation), dynamics, and the sonic qualities of timbre and texture..." Music - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Agree. Music is not a competitive sport anyway. Most "competitions" are more about the organizers and promoters making some coin on the backs of bands just struggling to do their thing.
makes sense that this type of music wouldn't fly in a 'band contest' they are intended for the masses - it would be like expecting a beauty pageant to select a 5 ft 2 girl with 'unique features' - she could very well be the best gal there - and atttractive as all get out - but the 5 ft 11 slim blonde with 34 Cs is going to win 99 times out of 100 - even though we have all seen her before....
and +1 too about the competition. Whenever you have to choose between what you like or dislike , there gonna be frustration.
I was working in a place and to fill up the monday nights we started a contest. The first reason was only to sell beer.
We found other 'social' and 'artistic' reasons afterward when the contest was picking up.
It's still on today after 15 years , and it's funny how the organizers don't remember the original reason why it was started !!
