You're almost there.
You will have to look for it one echelon higher, Imperial means imposed by the emperor. In this case Napoleon himself.

OP here. I love TalkBass (now to be known as ReadWriteReplyBass) so much! The best way to connect with other bass players instead of practicing bass. I appreciate all of you who see no need to change and want to slap me, as well as those who agree with expensively changing everything in the world to accommodate one small thing I find mildly irritating. And some good food for thought on how to think about filters.

Oh lawd! I had to learn some of that stuff a couple years ago to pass an industry certification test related to risk management. SO confounding. Put or call? Long or short? Forward or spot? Does my iron condor cover the spread or am I just going bankrupt?

I agree with the OP, it's confusing. Clearly named by engineers.

Good point. That threw me at first too, is filter being used as a noun or a verb.

Through or by? Just kidding, your answer just cleared up a dilemma that haunted me for years; my damaged ears don't make the distinction like they should while fiddling around with it. Turns out for my playing I don't need to use them.
