+1. Long-time Walkabout head / combo user here, but since I got the TC, the WB has hardly been touched.Check out the TC Electronics RH450 head. You might be surprised.
The TC is frighteningly good.

I would suggest looking at the Phil Jones Range, switchable Power. Light Weight, Combo's or Amp & Cabs, so much to choose from. All professional top quality
I am leery of voltage transformers because of reliability issues that I am aware of from other sources.
I am confident that Prague will be great.
It WILL be great for sure!
Great and tasty draught beer (beware - its a bit stronger than that watery US Stuff) - and an incredible density of the most beautiful girls!
You will love it!
The only disadvantages I can think of will be the weather - compared to California theres a lot of rain and the winter is brrrr - And the nearly non-existent music industry.
For shopping musical instruments eg you will need to reach out to shops in Germany or Austria.
Mesa Amps are insanely expensive here in Europe.
Get another Walkabout in the US - convert for european voltage and bring it over. When you go back to the US - sell it before you leave. You will get about the double of what you spent for it.
Good luck!
johnnycat42 I will be living in Prague, Czech Republic, and working all over the EU. I wanted very much to live in France (either Toulouse or Lyon) but I just could not make that happen. I am confident that Prague will be great.
Well yeah Europe isn't in the 3rd world, you can actually buy amps around here, even Mesa.
Expensive they are but less than a conversion.

Why not just get something there ans sell it when you leave?
All that shipping and modding seems like a waste of money.
Plus, they have Orange there for less!
A few months ago I applied to graduate school at a university in London, so I've been dealing with this issue as well. Not having a standalone head of choice at this point makes the question somewhat easier for me, as there are multiple directions in which I could go.
i was under the impression the only way to change the voltage of a WA was to change the output transformer out. is it possible to just rewire it to change the voltage?
