Found it, and so many more, thanks for the link. Maybe if I sold the house... I could always live in a van... down by the river...

No prob! You'll have to post the one that you like best. I love the Chris Farley reference! It's not an MTD, but I think you'll appreciate this pic. Is this the van you're talking about? :)

I paid $2,500 for it (which I thought was a fair price). I traded it for a mint Sadowsky Metro MV4 (which I'd value at $1,500) and $1,000.

I wasn't trying to make money on the deal and I didn't want to lose money. Just break even.

Buy used, play for free!

Where did you get that used MTD? Was it through a person or retail outlet? $2500 is a decent price for used considering I've been quoted $3800 for a new 6 string MTD from a retail outlet. That's a big price difference!

No problem at all. Feel free to borrow some of our photos for posting here.

Some people actually prefer the 21 fret basses - particularly on the 535's. For guys who slap a lot it sometime nice to have that bit of extra room - plus that more tradtional slap territory.

I've actually thought about getting a 635 with 21 frets at some point.

That's what I have... with a gloss finish, no less:D. The 21 fret 635 with Wenge neck is killer. Mine is Ash with a Burled Maple top and, while it's a naturally bright bass, the fun begins when you figure out how to not play it bright without changing settings Then you can just unleash that otherworldy growl at will.

:hyper:

Yes, it's that good.

Can we see it?

Dude! That's an awesome one! I love the fingerboard dots and the round knobs. I don't mind the typical MTD knobs, but those are even better IMO. When and where did you pick up that bass?

Joe
Actually, I did the knob change myself. Those are hipshot o-rings, my hands get a bit sweaty and I find I get a better grip on those.

And yeah, the pearl dots and matching h/s are cool.

My cousin recently bought an MTD535 on consignment for $2700. It played absolutely fabulously!!!!!!!!!!! I wanted it myself but couldn't justify it. It was so beautiful, I couldn't get over it and neither could he apparently. And he plays lead guitar in a variety band! How fair is that?!? Anyway, I have a feeling one of these will be in my future!

I picked it up right here on TalkBass. They don't show up too often but they do show up. You just need to wait (which can be a very hard thing to do).

That's probably a pretty average price for a new one.

Sure.

Picked it up at GC for $1900

Someone sold their MTD through GC?!?! Wow. I would expect an MTD to go through some abuse hanging on the wall at a GC store. $1900 is a sweet price. Good find; however, I can't see your picture. For whatever reason, there's a small white box with a red "x" in it. I tried refreshing the page. I also tried right clicking on it and selecting "show picture". Nothing. I'm so frustrated! Any thoughts? How come Jonki can see it? I'm jealous!

...I need to change my pants now... :(

Damn Michael Tobias and his damn sexy designs!!!

:p

~Ryan.

I'm so happy that you used sexy to describe Mike's work. I can't think of any other word that best describes his artistry. After looking at this thread and all of the pictures here, I've just stopped changing my pants. :D

I bet you spend a lot of time visiting your cousin so you can play his MTD... Um, *clearing throat*, I mean, so you hang out and watch the game. :D

I think that Mike Dimin (former TB "Ask a Pro") has similar knobs on his basses. Nice choice.
