Muff clones

Generally, LEDs are just for looks and don't affect tone (at least the ones that are for on/off indication).

The GGG replicas are all solid builds and all work. There are people who build them and list them on ebay. Someone put up a link on one of the muff threads last week. The prices are all higher than what we used to charge, but to each their own...

No D*A*M Ram Head anymore. Prices have gotten dumb in the secondary market as well.

John from basic audio makes some high quality one off muffs, and seems very inclined toward custom work and being a cool guy. I don't own anything personally but I've considered it.

Here is a guild foxy lady run he did:

Yeah, it sure sounds like a muff.

Just listened to the clips on your site. It sounds awesome. Definitely another one to add to the list.

The Supercollider is a Big Muff clone with mods from this website: Invalid Link Removed

Ok...looking at that, I have a question.

Is there a particular tone stack that works 'best' for bassists? I know there's lots of variation so I'm just wondering whether anyone has a preference...

I don't know about best but I like the change I made to mine. It boosts the mids along with a slight bass boost. Get the Duncan Tone Stack calculator and you can play around with the values and see the frequency response.

I have a Supercollider and it works great. Basically, it addresses every issue I had with using a standard Muff.

EHX Bass Big Muff is really stellar, too, and for the money it's completely unbeatable.

if you want simplicity, check out Mountainking Electronics Huge Box.

all it has is an Output knob, but it's Muff-ish and pretty damn radd.
I'll definitely be purchasing one of these at some point.

I've tried the BBM, as it says on the last page. Wasn't really convinced.

The Mountainking looks interesting.

I've been doing some more searching and have found:

Skreddy Mayo

Anyone had any experience with those?
