I can't compete with that, but I sure agree with it. I have five Thunderbirds of various kinds for the time being, with another one that will have a Precision pickup in the works. 'Birds come in flocks. It's good.

In the course of 20-odd years, I've picked up multiples of what I consider the key old-school basses: Ps, Js, 'Rays, Rics and Hofners. Some are significantly different than their brothers, some aren't, but each one had something that grabbed me enough to buy it, and I still love most of them. I'm trying to winnow them down a bit, but it's hard to let go!

Which is your favorite and why?

You'd think the Lull (it's a great bass) but, at least to my ear they're all a bit different - pickups, woods, construction the Jackson has a preamp and EMGs. Even the 3 '76 Gibson differ in tone because the pickups were wound inconsistently. So I like them all.
