multiple of the same bass

I've got two Sadowsky Will Lee fivers. One is a Metro (from the Tokyo shop) in morado/alder with singles; the other is an NYC build in brazilian rosewood/ash (yes, ash) with soaps.

The NYC is a bit lighter, but otherwise the ergonomics are identical. Both are '59 (two color) bursts. Voices are different. Love 'em both.

I got three usa std j's, two usa std p's, and three Fernandes atlas basses. All nickel roundwounds. The one I pick depends on whatever color appeals me the most at the moment :)

Those Metros are still very high end, and crafted by hand in Tokyo. Very nice!

Three Guild Pilots. Although, I need to take an updated picture since I swapped the black one for one with a natural finish and maple board. Two are '84s and the fretless is an '85. I sting them all differently for variation. Pilots have fantastic quarter sawn necks and are usually great bargains.

The only basses I have that are duplicates are my two PJ's. One is a grossly modded 76 Fender P body with an 83 P neck, and the other is a Hammersmith PJ4, but they both have EMG Geezers and Dunlop Super Bright Nickels on them and they sound the same. Never went for sonic duplicates before, but it's nice having a backup that doesn't require you to jump through hoops to switch, even if I only bring the Hammersmith most of the time. I also have Guitar Factory 4 and 5 string basses that also sound the same, but by nature of the extra string, they're not exactly duplicates.

At the risk of repeating myself, I love the Fender MIM Standards from 2009 forward. The quality took a huge leap and they added a maple board option. I play J's and P's, so I ended up with a few of both for roundwound/flatwound and backup purposes.

My 5-string of choice is the Peavey USA Cirrus, and I own two of those strung identically. I insist on having a backup bass at all my gigs.

2 x Stingrays (one fretted, one fretless)
5 x Jazzes (one fretless, one 5 string, one 'normal', two with customised pickup configurations)
8 x Precisions (one PJ, one with a Musicman pickup, 6 'normal')

Some have flats and others, rounds.

Peace,

Rob.

I have two G&L JBs, both 4 strings. One is a three tone burst with rosewood and the other is Ruby Red Metallic w/matching headstock also with rosewood. They both have Tort guards (what else?). Besides the variety of color, I have one strung with DR Pure Blues nickel round wounds and the other with LaBella Deep Talkin' Flats. The latter really gets the early 60s sound and is a pure delight to play.
