Murder Porn

I've watched more of those real-life reality murder shows than probably all others combined.

I love the detective and forensic aspect of crime-fighting.

I've seen quite a number of dead people in my life and it doesn't bother me to look at them.

I've always been interested in crime solving.

I could have easily picked homicide detective as a career choice.

No. I totally understand the morbid curiosity behind watching them, but they tickle the old depraved bone a bit too much to maintain a kind, wholesome personality. Garbage in, garbage out, basically, though many people hide their demented desires quite well it will manifest (come out) some way.

My father was an investigator, so I am drawn to some of the more serious, sober true crime documentaries like the First 48, but all those ubiquitous fictional crime procedurals like CSI and Law and Order are total, irredeemable trash. They are designed to reinforce fear and confusion throughout the population and create apathy towards other people.

I do not. But, then again, I don't watch much TV other than the Red Sox.

My wife, however, watches them ALL THE TIME. I joke with her all the time telling her "I am both disturbed and comforted in knowing that you know hundreds of way to NOT get away with murder."

Sorry, don't own a TV. Wifey watches a lot of movies and I occasionally watch with her, but it's mostly stuff that I would really have enjoyed when I was 14 so I don't sit in too often. She also watches GOT through Amazon a lot and she gets me to watch it with her sometimes. Back when we had cable she was a big fan of CSI LV, CSI Miami, and Criminal Minds.

When I was a wee lad I found my granddad's stash of pulp rags dedicated to true police stories one summer when I spent a few weeks with him over the summer. They always had a few really bad B&W photos with the articles and most were murder or robbery cases.

My wife and I watch all of them. My wife is very interested in the forensic side of things. Has tons of books on the subject. She can even name the big names in the various fields (like Dr. William Bass who started the first "Body farm")

My favorite was "I (almost) Got Away With It". Toward the end it sort of devolved, doing stories on people who were on the run for a few days. That's not almost getting away with anything. The original seasons when they did stories on people who were on the run for 15 to 30 years. Now, that was interesting.

Both of us love "Homicide Hunter:Lt. Joe Kenda". He is bad-ass.

I watch shows like "Dateline NBC" once every two weeks or so. I watch for the forensics, the determination of the detectives, and to see the bad guys get caught and justice done. I'm not into "CSI"-style dramas, though.

I have no fear at all of being warped by it. I'm in control of my own mind. I know why I'm watching, and it's not because of some prurient interest or sick fetish. I also know when to change the channel, or turn the TV off.

I don't normally watch them but I follow Dr Todd Grande on YouTube, and he discussed the Eric Williams case today. A judge in Texas who killed two prosecutors who got him disbarred after he took home some computer monitors from his workplace.

From another video it showed that he was a pretty strange child who had refused to go barefoot or play in the dirt, among other things.

But my biggest question is, why would he steal computer monitors? He claimed he was working on a work related project from home. But he could have easily gotten similar ones the legal way.
