Music Man Stingray: What comes to mind?

Flea, Tony Levin, punchy sound.....................and....................the stupid face of a friend of my that we played in the same show and a lot of people told me that I sound a lot better than him(he played with his original Stingray and I with an OLP copy of the stingray and just a seymour duncan paranormal bass DI. OPSS!!! I love the stingray but since that show,,,,,I love my OLP more because its save me money.....lot of money!!!

p bass + jazz bass = sting ray 4

The more I try to explain, the more of a sh@# storm is gonna come my way! I feel it's a closer combination than the p bass special.

It's got that jazz punch with the p bass single pickup simplicity. It's quiet with a neck that's in between the two.

If you pluck a stingray in p bass spot, it will sound like a p bass.

There is something killer about it's look and feel. I love it because it's hard to play well. It's a clang machine if I'm not carful. But if I work real hard at it, I know the sound is going out with total charity and the most insane punch. A lot more solid bottom than the rear pickup of a jazz bass.

High end is hard to sculpt but it's in there. The tone refuses to be ignored. It really throws what you're made of, out there.

I feel the instrument has a lot of soul as well.

Is a perfect pairing with the sansamp DI.

....."Clank"............... fret noise like there's no tomorrow. I've tried string changes, action and pup adjustments, its obviously my (poor) technique. I still own one and pull it out everey so often, clank on it, then put it away for another few months. Best built bass I have ever owned. Absolutely flawless in every respect. But it still clanks.:(

the first bass i gassed over, as an older friend of mine had one with the autumn redburst....

.... and i now have that exact same bass, 7 years later.

The stingray is awesome to me, as well as for me, and i also have a p-bass with flats to compliment it perfectly.
