Music Man Stingray: What comes to mind?

I got a killer deal on a new SR4 HH a little over a year ago. It sounds great: no weak G, good sustain through the G-string with almost no dead spot at C#, great range of nice tones. It's versatile with a fast and stable neck, and it's really easy to set up. It's done well recording and live. But it's the only bass I have at the moment and I don't really dig the way it looks--I just want a classic looking J-Bass, but I can't bring myself to ditch this thing.

I love my stingrays (looks and sounds) but some time ago I saw an olive green stingray with a red tortise shell pickguard on it and ever since then all I can think of when someone says stingray is Pimento Olive

I've played a stingray through a pretty nice rig (courtesy of my uncle) and i think they are overpriced.
really good sounding and versatile, but still overpriced.
Believe it or not, my first thought was "Sheryl Crow." Before she switched to the Guild, she played a Stingray 4 and her band member played a 5.
Beautiful sweet smell when I first bough it... playing with Frank Fish last summer...

August 4, 1998. The day I bought a near-mint 1977 StingRay, with the original leather Music Man strap, hang tags, brochure and receipt from Manny's still in the case ... for $400.

First thing that comes to my mind is the one I bought brand-new in late 1978 ore early '79. 'Burst, black guard, the classic look. Sounded freakin' awesome with my HD-130 and 212RH rig.
Second thing to come to mind is John Deacon with Queen in a video of "Another One Bites The Dust". For some reason that stuck with me....
Third is the Music Man ad that showed a 'Ray in front of the HD-130/212RH stack and merely said "Percussion, Power, Punch"- I thought it was sort of like a comment that "Precision" wasn't enough...
