Musical instrument insurance

Companies like Heritage will write a policy, which you and they come to an agreement on what your gear is worth when you write the policy and that is what they pay out.

I've been with them for several years and have been very happy with their service and their process.

They will generally work with 'agreed upon' pricing, so you can determine your gear value from a recent price guide and/or local pricing of similar items and they'll let you know if something seems out of line.

So switch insurance carriers to one that DOES have that policy.

American Federation of Musicians, or the Musicians Union.

Not exactly. You're better off buying a policy from a company that specializes in instrument insurance. Many large carriers can cause headaches after a few years, claiming the value of the instrument is minimal.

You're going to need to find an agreed value policy.
