hey Caca was that you that described how to manufature replacement string mutes? Mine are crumbling off....

I'd think adhesive weather stripping would work. I make mutes out of two strips back to back to put under the strings.

Just put TI flats on to try out. I couldn't connect as much with them on my other basses, but so far they sound sweet on this one adds a nice growl.
I will know more after I use it at church tomorrow.

Yes. I used a self-stick foam material, essentially like weatherstripping.

What is that stuff sold as? It looks like it's the right width (front to back). The stuff I have would be too wide.

Oh yeah when I get it it's a bigger chunk. I simply made a jig to cut rectangular pieces out the proper size.

What did you use to cut them? I always destroy them with scissors.

try a brand new exacto knife blade.

By the way, three days in and I'm really enjoying this bass. Got it set up nice and fast, and it can go from the agressive Timmy C old RATM tone to the Bernard Edwards warm fart with ease.

After playing with the TI Flats yesterday I can say they go together with this bass like peas and carrots. For me at least. Took a little edge off the preamp for me and added a sprinkle of growl. Loving it

I haven't tried TI's in probably 12 years. They used to be my go-to flat and I don't know if they were too expensive or what, but I stopped buying them.

I'm still loving the Pressurewounds on mine. This bass is my "aggressive all-arounder" so they work best. I feel like the growl is the charm in this bass. It's not as mean as a stingray, a little warmer with the edges smoothed out a little bit, but it's a quality that I've never gotten from another bass. I felt like flats kind of took that away. But then again I was using GHS Brite Flats and I think GHS tend to be on the darker, thumpier side.

OK. Our club needs more pics. Here's my third Sabre: This one's a late '80's EB (I think it's an '88). Nice rosewood board and a 1 piece body!

Not the greatest pics, but you get the idea, yeah?
As much as I dig my preEB's, I like the sound of this EB just a little bit more. It's also just a bit more versatile sound wise, due to the obvious coil selection capabilities. AWESOME bass!

Very nice What were the switches on the pre EB's? Pickup selection, phase, series/parallel?

Do someone know which are the rarest colors on pre EB sabres? I found a lot of natural finished, then some black, little sunburst and very few brown and white...White is definitely the most difficult to find...
