I hope that wasn't while you were actually playing? I would not be happy if the venue had TV's running right by the band during a gig.

He said it was during sound check.

I played a show with my band many years ago. The show organizers had borrowed some stock footage from a local library. They were showing random footage on a film screen during each band's performance, with no sound of course.

This reissue is years overdue (as was the Stingray Classic). Thanks to EBMM for finally getting on the ball (Ball?) with this!

Interesting that they chose to go with the late '80s variant of this bass (covered poles, 5-way switch, Stingray bridge) instead of the earlier version. These later ones are functionally better basses, but I've always preferred the look of the earlier ones. It doesn't stop me from wanting one, though! :) I have an '87 fretless in this exact configuration, and I'm not complaining one bit. Now I might just look into getting it a fretted baby sister.

I know the feeling. When I was on the hunt for a pre-EB Sabre a couple years ago, I couldn't decide between sunburst and natural.......so I now have one of each.

So if I pop for a new one, it'll probably be a different finish. Especially if they have different burst finishes.

Appears to be part of the Classic series of basses and available in the colours for the Stingray Classic - Natural, black, retroburst, Candy Apple Red, Lake Tahoe Blue, Eldorado Gold as it stands currently.

One of the coolset Sabres I've ever seen was in the original early 90s blueburst.

Anyone around here know how the 16 pole neck humbucker sound differs from the regular 8 pole HH Ray neck PU??

The covered, 16-pole pickups are a little smoother sounding. The exposed, eight-pole p'ups are spikier, ie: they're a little more sensitive to transients. Consider the differences between the single-coils on a Jazz Bass vs. the single-coil on a '51 Precision and you kinda get the idea. Does that help?

Yeah thanks - the new Sabre has a noiseless single coil circuit also - all looks good.
