It's a sweet player, there is a truss rod nut. I haven't totally paid it off yet.

I got about 5 years ago used, a Music man sterling sting ray all black with the serial code 581766. The serial code is from that group of numbers that got reused for another newer model series that came out in 1987. Even the volume/tone knobs are black. It almost looks like a Cutlass and has a graphite neck.
