The only thing between my bass and amp is a cord or three, a tuner, and a JDI.

If you're working in various cover bands I would imagine you'll need to use whatever was used on the songs you're covering.
- Distortion/fuzz/overdrive
- Phaser
- Chorus
- Delay
- Octave
- Whatever crazy sounding s*!+ that make you happy
Sure. Without a killer distortion box (I believe it to be a Rat or Rat derivative), you can't get this sound:Thanks.

...but I usually play a 1977 Gen 2 Sunn Model T into a GK 412.

This is a forum for discussing the usage of Effects on bass. By definition the people posting here use and love effects. Coming into here and saying that effects are useless or unneeded is as dictionary a definition of trolling as there is and will be dealt with as such.
