You shouldn't have to adjust the volume on your bass at all. My two basses are VERY high output and I leave the volume on them dimed. Turn your volume all the way up and manipulate the sensitivity control. You should get the same results if you lower the sensitivity relative to the volume.

That may be your problem right there. If you max out the volume on your bass and the sensitivity you won't get anything. Dime your bass volume and as you pluck a string roll back the sensitivity on the pedal (from maximum) until you get a sound that you dig. Leave the Decay and Q knobs at around 50% and work from there.

Im telling ya man, I did that too, tweaked every combination you can think of. But hey, I twisted so many knobs that maybe I just thought I did. Thanks for everyone's help.

While it sounds more organic than some filters, I think I want a 3leaf Proton for a wetter sound.

Thread revival..

Hey Morrisonhendrix, did you ever resolve the issue? How were you powering your unit?

My new M82 filter wouldn't respond at first. The problem was trying to power it off of a daisy chain from my OneSpot adaptor. No good. Works great on its own dedicated 9v adaptor.

Had a similar problem years ago with a Boss auto filter, thought I got a defective unit, wouldn't do anything. Then I noticed the little "PSA only" sticker. Happened to have a PSA adaptor back then, powered it up, sounded great.

Evidently filters can be fussy about power supplies. Just sayin' for anyone else who may have a similar issue.

I sold it. I can't remember how I was powering it, but I think it WAS daisy chained. I think you're on to something there. I'm using an EP-2 now. It seems a little bassy, but I like it. Got a Qballs too, and like that as well. Thanks for the info.!

Hah just saw this thread revived in my Subs list. Back when I commented on Page 1, I bought the SourceAudio BEF Pro instead of the MXR... ended up sellling it 2 months later and getting this MXR, and have been diggin it ever since.

I wanted to comment back because I think you guys who had touchy ones might have been defective. I have mine as the 4th spot on a 5-plug 1Spot daisy and it works fine. Just yesterday I was playing around with it, A/Bing between just the MXR and a boosted fuzz + MXR... it was very easy to turn the sensitivity knob to match sensitivity between the 2 gains and get a good solid "quack" out of each, up to a fully open envelope (all trebly at the top of the sweep.)

This is through a Musicman Ray35, which I converted to passive... the humbucking MM pickup is wired to an on/off switch to the jack. No volume or tone... it has a fairly low but clean and full range output.

On my MXR, its super easy to get it to snap the envelope... the fact that you had difficulty makes me think that something was wrong with yours, that the threshold of the pedal was too high for the pot in the knob or something or a mismatched capacitor inside. You never know, maybe a certain % is defective. I've used 3 different passive basses into the MXR with no issues, so I doubt it was your Warrior.

Reason I bother to comment is if you think the EP-2 is too bassy, I've found that its really easy to EQ the MXR by playing with the clean and wet volumes. You may dig it if you had one that worked right (if that was the issue.)
