MXR m87 compressor question

I've just got myself a MXR m87 compressor. The reason I got it, is because I want my bass to sound "less empty", get a little "body" and stand out more in the mix. I've been fooling around with the settings but I just can't find the right settings for this... Can anybody who uses the compressor for the same purpose tell me what their settings are? So I'll have something to hold on to and build from.

Very important info:
  1. I am totally new to compression and up until I got this unit have never used one before.
  2. Yes I've read Bongo's website on how to use compression and stuff.
Thank you very much, in advance.

JensCambre,
I hate to be an ass on this but you may need to be playing with your band while you tweak. I can't tell you how many effects I've set with a mixer and headphones that sound like ass when you throw the whole band in the equation. That said, start with Bongo's advice by goosing the input beyond noon, set the ratio at 4:1 and have all the other knobs at noon. Tweak until you find a sound you like but use the manual to understand what you're doing.
That said, if you're looking for more body this may not be the right compressor. I've read the Diamond, automatically set at a 4:1 ratio, has a nice warming effect as does the Markbass Compressore.
Good luck.
