@ Relic: ACUs were/are garbage. I wore em my last deployment and we stuck out in EVERY environment. Multi-Cam/OCP is great! We blend in with every environment, best uniform ever! The M4 sucks at anything over 400m (100m is about a football field). I would like to have something that shoots a 7.62 or even the 6.4, or whatever, they were working on. The only down side to a bigger round is more weight! Most of the equipment we get issued is about 5-6 years old by the time we get it in our hands. Usually it goes through alot of testing and Special Forces gets alot of the stuff before we do. By the time we get it, it's totally outdated but the Army has ordered thousands of units by that time so it's too late. We get issued some pretty crappy stuff for that reason.
@WebTroll: Yeah, on my vest I have eight 30rd magazines (+ the one in my weapon), my camera, extra batteries for my NVGs (Night Vision Goggles, even though is a monocle) spare batteries for my radio and some first aid stuff.
@Jmorbita: It's actually wheat fields, not alot of rice fields here, not enough water in this area. I was actually in someone's Qalat (house), I was leaning on their kitchen counter, essentially, which was in a courtyard type of thing. The only thing usually inside the house itself are the bedrooms. Kitchen is outside, bathrooms are anywhere you want to go.
