My amp hates my new bass :(

Cheap batteries can cause problems - even if they are fresh.

Sounds like an issue with the bass preamp or its power supply to me.

I have a spector with active EMGs and its really hot... but I can't get it to distort the input on my carvin B1500....even with full bass boost. A top notch preamp with tons of headroom should be able to handle the hottest pickups out there I think.

it would seem that way, eh? Fred uses custom built 18v preamps specifically to get a ton of headroom. In any case, I'm not that worried because he's going to take care of it. The bass is awesome, and I can't wait until it's completely sorted.
