So, I'm 60, been playing for 45 years, been playing out at least once a month for all of that time....
I've had the Ampeg refrigerators, Acoustic 301 and 370, and a Peavey 2x10/18 cabinet back when I was strong enough to lift them.
Today I use a G&K MB212 - it's a 500 honest watt combo with 2x12" drivers, and weights about 35 lbs. If you need more than that, you should be playing through FOH, in my opinion.
Anyway, I roll into a gig with that G&K, and my 7.2 lb sadowsky NYC 5 string, and my super thick memory foam Gibson $100 guitar strap, and I'm a happy puppy on my way out...
I still have a number of those older, heavier cabinets including an Edens 410, which I have to agree sounds awesome, but which I'm not willing to lug around anymore, so it sits in the basement for rehearsals.
I love my current rig/setup, because I'm in and out in 1 trip, and my back is always happy.
