However, my promotions group recently held a show (which I uninvited them from) in Maui which was quite possibly the greatest show I have ever had the pleasure of being involved with. So much energy, so much ROCK, just frikkin great.

...That's all well and good, but what about your gear? You know, the stuff you spent good money on that was stolen from your garage?!

Get the name copyrighted/trademarked. Then they can't use it.

And for crying out loud, get your gear back.

He can copyright the songs. He can trademark the band name. But not vice-versa. And he still has to be willing to enforce his rights - which kind of brings us full circle to the essence of the problem here... :rolleyes:

Jimmy, I'm sorry to say that you've just provided an unintentional object lesson to us all on how not to be a band leader. It's nice if they like you. But it's essential that they respect you. Clearly, being a mellow kind of guy has done nothing for you in this regard... :rollno:

I actually appreciate you having shared this story...because it's just strengthened my resolve to be strong and in charge when I start up my own band. Although to tell you the truth, this thread has already become so painful to read that I just can't take it anymore... :eek:

Anyone who would let this happen to their musical equipment isn't really motivated to have a band.

You may be motivated to play bass, which is cool. And maybe you can be in someone else's band, but I think you need to give up on the idea of leading a band and focus on developing some character traits that go along with adult life.

Hawaii is laid back, and you're non-confrontational and all - but unless this Satan-Drummer dude personally scares you (just admit then, and let it go), you need to get your equipment back - he stole it TWICE. You write that he originally took equipment when he took the name, then broke into your garage and stole stuff.

And you did nothing. For more than a month.
