My amp has 8 knobs and 9 sliders, my pedal board has 16 sliders and 34 knobs and my bass has 6 knobs ...

That is 73 different control knobs ...

Then if I run into a PA there are even more controls ...

Gee ... I remenber my first amp had a volume and a tone control

What is that, a 10 band fully parametric EQ on top of the semi-parmetric on the pre? Seems a bit overkill. I could see having one or the other but both seems pretty pointless.

I mean, for the most part, I go for a really "sculpted" sound (moreso on guitar than bass though), and I STILL think that's overkill. I used to use a stereo 30 band graphic EQ for guitar and that was just too much. I mean, I sounded awesome using it, but it was just unnecessary to have that many bands of control. But I didn't just have the typical "smiley face" curve, I had various bands cut or boosted, often right next to each other. And since bass is more likely to be played clean, there aren't as many harmonics going on and so you don't need such precise control.

I would say if you need that much EQ'ing on a bass rig, something is not happening with either your bass, your head, or your cab(s) or all of the above. So keep switching them out until you find a combo that works.

That meyer eq is simply amazing in quality, component, and design. It's going to affect the sound in a way that the onboard eq in the eden will not. The eden is lacking bell curve control anyway, it's not a full parametric. Two quite different eq's.
That's a killer rig, and despite the amount of knobs, quite simple actually (it's just an eq, nothing to be afraid of).

As I get older I use less strings, less pickups, less effects, less cables, less speakers and definitely less knobs in my rigs. I'm a certified member of the "prefer Vol/Tone knob only" club (with a modest effects board of course).

I've had too many preshow reaching back with a flashlight "now which cable to jiggle?" moments to ever go back to my Demeter/Kern/Crest/QSC/Eq/Compressor/Furman/Eventide stereo rack with (2) 4x10's.

I guess you need a lot of knobs to play jazz though.....:hiding:
