This now. I was a 5 string only player for the last few years, but my previous #1 (avatar), was too heavy, post back surgery. No apologies for this one; just miss the "B".

My 1964 Hofner 500/1 Violin Bass, was my main number 1 bass from when I bought it in 1988 to August 1998 when I put it away.
A few months ago I started having some pain issues on my third finger of my left hand, so playing 34" scale basses for a long while could get uncomfortable sometimes. So I got my 64' 500/1 back out of it's case and it's never gone back in, so I've gone full circle & back playing my favorite number 1 bass again.

Niiice bass! It all changed once I got the '68 Tele. It's the only one I play now, a truly inspiring bass.

The red Peavey is a Patriot...with a single pickup, sort of in the Stingray location.
The necks feel very good for me and they're stable decade after decade.

The Darkglass 212 is rounder, fuller sounding with nice tight mids. Relatively neutral. Tons of balls at low volume.

The Hartke 10's have a high treble range that is built in.

Both are awesome through my Tech21 and Berg heads. The Hartke head in the pic is gone.

I'm not cab/amp shopping anymore, unless a single 12" DG goes on sale.

When I was shopping intensively for some serious cabs, the Darkglass 2x12 was my favorite sound wise by far but a little too heavy for my lower back.
I was interested by two 1x12 from Drakglass but lead time was more than 6 months back then and I needed a kit faster than that.
Finally bought two 1x12 Neo IV from GK that was a close match IMO although a tad punchier and less warm. The weight of the 112 was the same for both brands.
OTHO, the GK feel more robust and beer spilling proof overall with its front metal grill and its hard plastic finish.
I may end up with two Darkglass 112 nonetheless……………………..freaking GAS !

I ditched a 145# Hartke 810, so the DG212 is a feather at 42#'s.
