I've mentioned it a million times by now, but my No. 1 is still my Carvin LB70 from 2001/2002. It was my first quality instrument after learning on a $100 p-bass copy and has never been kicked out of the top spot since then, despite my owning a Zon, Fender, etc. and playing examples of most of the major industry players. I've heavily modified it over the years, including stripping the original poly finish and replacing it with oil, swapping out the pickups for Aero Type 1s, changing out the preamp for a similar Carvin model after the originals burnt out, multiple tuning key changes, and even at one point having a skilled luthier replace the truss rod while preserving the original fretboard (no small surgery on a neck-through bass).
At the end of the day, this bass still plays great, fits me comfortably (except when I need a break from its maple/walnut weight), and simply sounds better than any other bass for the vast majority of playing situations I've come across.

No, it's been discontinued and I'm not sure how long it's been. I actually purchased mine New Old Stock as it had been sitting above the bass room entrance at my local GC for a very long time. I started out not really interested in it to liking it, loving it and now it is definitely my favorite. Here's the story I posted on it when I first purchased it back in May.

i'm a sucker for a reddish tort on a black bass. bonus points for a rosewood fingerboard - the bronco doesn't even have a fingerboard
Right now, my two main gigging basses are a sunburst/maple/tort AmPro II Precision Bass and my transparent amber/figured maple StingRay Special with flats. The Pro II still has the factory rounds on it, though my previous No. 1 P-Bass wears flats.
I'm thinking Bunny is no longer an ESP endorer. I wonder if he has a signature bass somewhere else.
The closest model ESP has is the D4 (and D5), which is nice, but not Bunny Brunel nice.
Yeah I would agree the D4 might be a nice bass, but not even close to Bunny Brunel nice. The pickups and preamp automatically tell me that. If you're interested I found this one on Reverb, but it's located in the Netherlands although that store has a good rating.

Here's another one in St Paul, MN that has the MM Pickup logo upside down and the output jack is on the front which is different from the others I've seen, but the price is very good.

Wow, thanks. I'm a lefty and don't even know if the ESP Bunnys were available in lefty. I did see a Carvin BB on Reverb, but it was from the 90s and the price was a bit high.
The con on the D series is the ESP pickups. Maybe they're fine, but the YouTube videos I've seen don't sound great.
All of these are number one on any given day.

One more thing I just thought about that intrigues me a lot is the ESP LTD B1004 with Nordstrand Pickups. Every video I have seen sounds great. Below are two videos by Nathan Navarro that showcase the bass and compares it to a few others. Really nice sounding bass, but I'm not sure if they come lefty.
My new epiphone embassy has been getting all the love lately. It's the only good bass I have that way less than 8 lbs.
