My experience with bassstringsonline.com part 2!

I've bought all my strings from bsonline. Here in the crawfish fields, the very scattered music store can be 3x the price for flats (not to mention the gas for the car!).
Instead… delivered down the gravel road while I hang out in my underwear: perfectly wonderful strings VERY reasonably priced.
If anybody on planet earth can beat BSO, I wish they'd mail a catalogue;)

Thank you for that! Glad we are appreciated!!!
I love how you have focused your business, but if you sold twanger strings I wouldn't have had to open an account with musicians friend.:hmm: Haven't had a prob to test "customer service," but that's exactly what I call customer service. Give this man your business! I say that selfishly, because I don't want to lose this source.:smug:

Twanger Strings? Well, I am going to NAMM in a few hours... There is where I make deals for you and setup with new manufacturers for you! So let me know what you want to see on the site and I will get it going!

By Twanger, I meant guitar-- the little ones with 6 strings. Have to buy strings for some every now and then. When I do, I want some good crunchy rhythm type strings…

Also, had to go outside your website to get a nut for my 5 string (ended up happy with a Graph Tech tusq product). Keeping in line with your business model: how about specialty bass accessories (not just standard Fender replacements)? Around here (talkbass) there are a quite a few who might order fancy accessories when they are happy with everything else, bass/rig wise, but have been researching a certain bridge or machine head that "seems real cool."

have fun out there!

Well that makes more sense. Hehe

We do operate Guitarstringsonline.com as well! Same VIP program applies though you do need to register a separate account there. We will combine orders and if any extra shipping is charged we will refund it. The guitar site still needs to be populated but we can get the full line from every brand you see on the bass site including singes!

We have access to a lot of replacement parts and stuff so if you need anything just ask, I'll always be straight up on price and let you know if we can really get something.

We also operate Drumstuffonline.com and VIP goes there as well.

Thank you all!

Just received my 4 string short scale flats the other day. One complaint. . . I didn’t get a sticker! LOL. I figure if the only complaint I can muster up on a company is a lack of swag (1 out of 4 orders) they must be doing something right. Ordered a 4 string set of medium scale tape wounds yesterday and something struck me.

My account tracks all my previous orders, and even gives me a quick link to reorder those same strings. I currently have 6 different basses ( and in the process of building 4 more) . They all have different configurations, Long, Medium, Short and, sub-short Piccolo. 4 string, 5 string (and a planned long scale 6 string). Flats, Rounds and, Tapes . . . so to get to the thing that struck me . . . Would BSO/GSO/DSO consider having the order tracking system give the buyer the option to give orders a nick name?

That way when I need a new set of long scale, 5 string, Black tape wounds for my headless Thunderbird instead of having to click on each previous order trying to figure out which set of tapes is the one I need, I could just click on “penguin” (which is what I call the headless black and white T-Bird), or “stratcollo” for my 5 string 25.5 scale piccolo bass.

For the record I've got a guitar center walking distance from my house, and would rather wait for the US Mail to deliver from BSO.

Tell you what. I'll make a custom link for the product you would like....

So ill make a section for BSO user sets. You select you, and your family of basses will be there and the product will be what is on that bass!

One catch, you need to send a picture and description of the bass and what you use it for / sound you get!

Thank you for providing such a great selection of strings and outstanding customer service! I love how easy it is to put custom sets together through BSO.

Oh yeah...while you're at NAMM, would you please ask DR to make Sunbeams in a .055 gauge?

I will mention that tomorrow. I already had my official meeting with them, but will stop by. I have talked about that with them before, but can do that again :D

I'm not trying to bring the love-fest down, honestly I'm not, and I have nothing but praise for Jason and BSO. But I haven't needed any customer service, so TBH, my experience isn't a whole lot different than ordering from Amazon or something. I point, I click, a few days later I get my stuff. This is not to say that Jason doesn't do a good job, it's just to say that Amazon does a good job too. For me, the appeal is in supporting an independent retailer rather than some corporate behemoth.

Another positive experience here. Besides awesome customer service, Jason has tons of knowledge on products, something you won't get at amazon... ;-)

Good point! If you're looking for a suggestion for a smoother sounding round wound or want to know exactly which set is the right fit for the scale length of your bass or whether a set will work with a string through bridge Amazon isn't of much help there.

What Jason provides is value added service and advice from an experienced playing professional for the same or less money than you'd spend on the same product from another source. That's a nice added benefit to have on your side. It can save folks from making some very expensive mistakes. :)

I'll put my 2 cents in here and say that I've been getting my guitar strings from Jason's GSO for awhile now and you can all expect the same great pricing, service and courtesies you get from him through BSO. Same guy, same business philosophy, just a separate website.

He can get any guitar string product, electric and acoustic, offered by any of the manufacturers product lines he handles. I can get my GHS Pure Nickel Rockers, Sfarzo 5109 Alloys, D'Addario XLs and just recently a set of TI Plectrum Acoustics that are by far the finest sounding and playing acoustic string I have ever played and the cost was 20% less than MF gets for the same set.

If you don't see it listed on the GSO site just ask him for what you want. He can get it. I'm an unabashed fan of a guy whose a very knowledgeable playing pro and does business the old fashioned way where the customer always comes first. You don't find much of that around anymore.

I did my first purchase yesterday after looking in many other places, initially I chose BSO because I like to support small companies but during the checkout I found that the strings had a huge discount plus free shipping ! Very happy with my first experience :)
