My experience with bassstringsonline.com part 2!

Jason/all other parties,

I am looking for some sage wisdom regarding strings:

A. I have a 35" scale Gecko 6 that I am completing that will need very long strings to run through the body (hoping to go with NEONS- I like DR strings in general and am also curious about the Bootzillas)

B. Have a Warwick 5 string fretless and I am looking get an aggressive sound without fingerboard wear- using flats at the moment-- anyone use coated strings to get a little more "mwah" without wearing grooves into the board? Suggestions? :help:

many thanks!

Gustav

Hi Gustav,

A - What are you running on there now so I can get an idea the length your instrument will properly accept. DR NEON's / Bootzillas are just under 38" from Ball to Taper, they may work on your instrument but it could be very close depending on the construction.

B - Coated strings are still going to wear into the board but slightly slower than a non-coated round. The DR coated strings are a little softer than a standard round. You can try som ken Smith Compressors on it, the Nickel Iron Alloy is pretty forward sounding, and they give good muah and reduced fingerboard wear. Another option would be La Bella White Nylon Tapewounds as they will give the most muah with least amount of wear (go for the lighter gauge set). They also have a Copper WhiteNylon set coming out very soon. Although as long as you don't have the gorilla grip and do not do up and down bends on the fretless board you should be fine anything you use!

Just wanted to pop in here and say that I was feeling some new strings in a lighter gauge for my birdsong 4-stringer, took a leap of faith and ordered some la bella nickel rounds from bassstringsonline, and now i'm in love with my tone! they shipped quick too. many thanks mr jason

I came across basstrongsonline.com through this site and won't buy from anyone else. it's not just great prices and great service, it's that bass guitar and bass strings aren't a "sideline thing" like they are with so many other music places - bass and strings are EVERYTHING to bassstrinsonline - which makes me want to buy from them before anyone else.

Ordered my first flats last Saturday. Order amended (due to the singles I wanted being on order) on Tuesday. Paid for standard USPS shipping. Delivered to me in the UK this morning. Four days to ship, and cheaper than I can get in the UK or mainland Europe.

That's why.

Our national postal service is on strike, our customs office is as slow as ever so shipping from anywhere to Brazil can take as long as 4 months (2 on avg.) but I still order from Jason.

Customer service is great, he's got pretty much every good brand of strings and his prices are great, so I refuse to buy anywhere else.

Just ordered 2 sets of nylon tapes and a leather strap.

Thanks for your service!

Hello All! Thank you for the continued support!

I just wanted to give an update for new users wanting to be setup as a VIP. There have been some changes to how the site functions so I no longer see the new customer registration notes.

So for those who have registered accounts and would like to be setup as a VIP, please email me through the website or send me a PM.

Please include your name and your email address and I will set you up as a VIP so you can start receiving the TalkBass user discounts!

Thank you for your understanding.
