My experience with bassstringsonline.com part 2!

BassStringsOnline did right by me. Jason was awesome, answering email questions promptly despite being on the road, both before and after I completed the transaction. Phone service was great, the young lady put up with my lousy cell phone with admirable patience.

I'm glad I ordered both the white and black La Bella tapes. I'd heard the whites were floppy but I had no idea they were as noodly as they are. I really tried but was unable to do anything with them. Maybe I'd like them more in the standard gauge, but for the time being I think my adventurous streak has been mellowed a bit.

Oh well, live and learn. In any event, I'm still very happy with the overall process, and will be very likely to use these guys again. Probably soon, since I just finished a neck replacement on a personally special instrument and it's going to need 'em.

Placed my first order with them last week, nine sets and a couple of singles.

My desiderata were, let's say, "slightly complicated"...
Spent a good deal of time on the phone with Jamie, who was very kind, patient and helpful. Thank you again, Jamie!

Jason got back to me first thing next morning by email, to sort out all difficulties.

Then, while they processed my order, Jason constantly kept in touch with me by email, offering alternatives for out-of-stock items, awaiting my answers and getting back to me instantly every time.
Incredible!

They finally shipped the batch so quickly, my last choice for an alternative set came too late. He refunded the out-of-stock set only minutes later!

I'm impatient now, to try my custom sets; been playing these standard sets for years with frustration, either the top is ok, but the bottom is too light for my violent hamfisted technique, or the bottom is ok and the top feels too tight for my weak left hand.

Only reason I don't have them yet, is I'm having them brought over from the States by a friend who's coming to visit me for New Year and ordered them for me. Saving on shipment allowed me to buy more strings :)
Well worth the patience...

Mind you, if I pay for international shipment and buy ten sets at once, I still get my strings for a fraction of the price I'm paying them here :)
A custom set from BSO at two-thirds of the price of a standard one with the cheapest European online string-store, or less than half of the physical music store price for standard sets... No-brainer!
Still haven't found a single address for custom sets here in Europe, by the way.

In short: BassStringsOnline rocks! :hyper:

I have my first out of town show this weekend in San Diego, CA and after many months of using the same set of strings I decided for this show I should get a set of fresh strings on the bass. 2 choices (because I procrastinated) either order through Bassstringsonline and pray that they get here by at least Friday (ordered on Monday) OR call the guitar center in SD and see if they have the strings I want in stock and just get them there and restring my bass in the hotel before the show. Didn't even have to think twice I ordered through Bassstringsonline! If they get here in time perfect! If not, oh well, the last strings they sent me were of such great quality that they're still sounding good enough. I pledge my loyalty to Bassstringsonline :D

Aside from prices/quality etc, what i look for most is how a business handles a mistake or issue when they do come up on either end, also the willingness to help someone find the right product.

After all the positive things I've read about Jason/BassStringsOnline this will be my go to place from now on. Creating my account this weekend.

You won't be disappointed. Jason and staff have always gone out of their way for me when I needed it. Currently awaiting a set of TI's myself.

I'm not trying to bring the love-fest down, honestly I'm not, and I have nothing but praise for Jason and BSO. But I haven't needed any customer service, so TBH, my experience isn't a whole lot different than ordering from Amazon or something. I point, I click, a few days later I get my stuff. This is not to say that Jason doesn't do a good job, it's just to say that Amazon does a good job too. For me, the appeal is in supporting an independent retailer rather than some corporate behemoth.

I hear ya, but I bet amazon doesn't give you points you can use towards future purchases. I just got a set of dr hellborgs for about $10 after using points I forgot I had. I'm sure people who buy strings more often accrue points quick.

Hey Jason, I got my strings. This has probably been the best online service I have ever received!
But, I'd be really glad if you'd add a warning for Sfarzo's Bass SFT strings, specifically the 5 string set.
These strings will definitely not fit inline 5 string tuners, unless these are just a fluke set with a string that's simply for a shorter scale. The G string was a stretch to fit! And I mean it! I had to wrap the core, partially, to make sure the string didn't slip.

But... despite all that... they sound wonderful, just zingy enough for my taste, and will see playing time exclusively in the studio this weekend, and for the rest of my band's first EP :) That is, if the G string doesn't decide to get slippery :D

That does not look like an inline headstock to me... If you have a fitment issue, please contact me directly with your full name, email address and order number. That sounds like a manufacturing defect that I am sure they will stand behind.

Oh, it's a 4+1 but I just wanted to point out that it would not fit inline.
The string is staying in tune, so I have nothing to complain about really, although I may send a friendly email to Sfarzo to inform them in the hopes that it's just a mistake.

I will definitely bring it up to them. This isn't the first instance of this with their products and I thought the first one was a fluke, so I will definitely investigate this more.

Always best to bring these things to my attention! You deserve to get what you paid for!
