Yeah those are nice. I really wanted one when they became available in North America, but were going for up to $400 for a juvenile female. Way cheaper these days, I just haven't got around to it.
You really have problems with eating pets don't you?
I don't think so.I never figured why my parents stopped buying pets after the bulldog though,it was delicious.
$400 was extreme, because they were just becoming available, and they were (and are still) regarded as one of the most beautiful spiders available.
A female (depending on the species) can live up to around 20 years. Males generally half that, usually less.
That's not a bad return actually. I always expect spiders to live way less than that for some reason.
why. The HELL. would you own a thing that would try to eat you as soon as it saw you?

Because I think it's pretty. Some people put art on their walls. I put nature, it's way cooler.
Plus, watching it feed is always entertaining.

No, I glue their little feet. That way I can still keep them alive by feeding them. And it scares the crap out of anyone who visits.

Ya know... I'm not the smartest guy on the planet. I don't have the sense to be afraid of the meanest dog, a raging lion, snakes, llamas, Gary Busey (with his desire to remove someone's endocrine system and all), or even the psychojealouscrazyscary significant other regaled in another thread here.
There are, however, two things on this planet that make me wanna wet my pants. Spiders is one of em. The idea of living in the house with one that size for 20 years
