My first bass resurrected (including back-story)

Another '60s attempt at neck stabilization on a bass guitar - the Vox "Double T" with adjustable tr.

My '68 Dano made Coral Deluxe Bass and '68 Dano made Silvertone Hornet basses have a beefier version of the twin (steel) beam stabilizing rods... but no tr adjuster.

So I re-glued the fb down and waited a few days for it to fully cure. I still couldn't get the slight bow to straighten out under string tension. Loosening the strings, I wrenched the tr as far as I could and still not enough. The next step is creating a slight back-bow and tightening the tr as far as it would go. I'm going to leave it like this for a while to hopefully train the wood to stay put. If it holds, once under string tension it hopefully will be closer to straight and I can get the action acceptable. I'm cutting a new nut for it also. Stay tuned...

Reassembled the Tempo today - it's better for sure and I didn't need to do any further fret-work. Medium action which is mostly what I play. I may order some light gauge strings which won't put as much stress on the neck and could get a bit lower action. Considering the lengths I went to, it's definitely playable.

I took the strings off and cranked a few more quarter-turns at the tr until tight, which is good because when in the brace I thought I had reached the end of being able to tighten it. Ordered this set of D'Addario's- super light gauge 1/2 rounds. I think they will be perfect as they will be a bit like flats and of low tension. I'll update when installed.

Strings arrived today - exactly what the doctor ordered. Low tension/low action, easy playing - sorted. Half-rounds feel nice, I haven't used them for years.
