Only thing equal to my depression is my anger at my former bosses / administration. They had different choices they could have made for me had they really wanted to retain me
I’m on LI as well as other job sitesDo you have a LinkedIn profile? Set up a professional looking page. Connect with acquaintances. Have a cup of coffee with people you haven't talked to in a while. Let them know that you're looking.
So make that be not that case. Seriously. Two easy things:I’m certain that as soon as someone reads my resume it’s easy to figure close to my age and then rejected
GP gave me RX. I told her she’d just given me my chemical exit. She asked me to not make her regret it. So I never picked them upI'm sorry things are so rough and that you haven't had interviews. That sucks.
But. This resentment is eating you alive, man. Who are you hurting with your anger? Here's a hint: it isn't your former bosses/admin. They don't know, or don't care, or both. They've moved on. Don't continue to give them the satisfaction of living in your head. You're only hurting yourself - emotionally, mentally, physically. Trust me, I know how tough this is. I have been there.
Since you seem incapable of moving on, I'd highly recommend you find a competent therapist who can help you with this process. Getting fired or laid off can really bring up a lot of difficult emotions, and a professional may be able to help you get over the worst of it.

I applied at a national music store...when asked for a resume...I simply wrote, recently retired from xxx after 32 years. So make that be not that case. Seriously. Two easy things:
-Only put your last 10 years of experience on your resume. Surely you've had at least a title change in that time, so you can just put <Company> <New Title> <date new title started> <end date>.
-Remove any references to high school or university, unless they're more recent than the last decade. If they're older than that, they don't matter anyway regardless.
You are holding onto a lot of anger. It shows very clearly in your written words here. Hopefully that is not translating into your cover letters and communications with new companies and other people. No one wants to hire a grump -- I know I don't for the teams I interview for (I'm a hiring manager). If you are bad mouthing your old company, your old boss, or anything like that at all in real life, knock it the hell off.
NoYou know my thoughts, have you spoken with counsel?
With jobs today, generally the first round of resume cuts is done by computers looking for keywords. The key is getting into the hands of an actual human being.
Are you customizing the resume for each job?
I’ve made no comments nor references to what’s happened in my resume’ or cover lettersSo make that be not that case. Seriously. Two easy things:

Unfortunately that doesn't cut it anymore in the year 2018.
Grab a highlighter. For each job you apply to, read through the "qualifications" or "required experience." For each bullet point or keyword, take the highlighter, read through your resume, and highlight where it says you fulfill that requirement. If it's missing, add it in (truthfully). An added bonus, this will help you prepare for the interview, because those are the things they will probably ask you about.
I'm serving on my first hiring committee at work, and it's been eye-opening. We had to throw out several resumes because they did not list Microsoft Word experience (a requirement explicitly listed in the job description). Even though they probably used Word to type their nicely laid-out resumes. If they had taken a few seconds to type the four letters W-O-R-D then we would have called them in for an interview.
Hope you’re doing better! My only crime was turning 65
