My HORRIBLE Alleva-Coppolo experience...

If he knew the conditions of the bass he was about to ship, will a refund and apology be enough to restore his reputation? Would you buy a bass from him and pay $5-6K before it gets shipped?
Sad story but in the internet era this is looking for troubles.

Whoa. Great timing. Just convinced church to buy a AC bass since we have great storage for security and needed to replace current. I was going to buy myself one as well THIS week. I'll be talking to Mike Tobias or Roger Sadowsky this week. Maybe Nino Valenti. Seems like that guy is the epitomy of great customer service. In awe.....at those price points customer service should the best in the industry. However, still waiting to hear Jimmy's side in this thread.

I hate to be that guy, but why would a church need an extremely expensive boutique bass? Seems like that money could be better spent elsewhere

Wow, I haven't read a thread this long straight through in a long time. This is really going to hurt AC and possibly some of the other Fender cloners out there. When you make your living selling Fender clones the only thing you have to offer is that you provide better quality and better customer service, otherwise, why not just buy a Fender? AC, in this case, has failed on #1 and is failing on #2.

Also, it's really sad to see people constantly comparing this bass to Squiers and MIM Fenders. I played a MIM fender for 15 years and it still looks 100 times better than this bass and sets up on a dime. I have a squier VM jazz that came from musicians friend, site unseen, and is flawless.

That was kind of bugging me too, but I don't think this is the time or the place to start that conversation :)

Under nine hours in and there are eleven pages! This thread grew by two pages just as I was reading it.

I don't have anything to say that hasn't already been said. Still I wanted to give my support to the OP. I hope Jimmy makes this right, and swiftly. You deserve nothing less than a full refund and an apology. That bass was completely misrepresented.

Also today i was looking at alleva coppolo pickups and the whole site is listed a "potentially compromised" by google. Not a warm fuzzy when thinking about punching in a credit card number.

After reading this I was thinking maybe, just maybe, someone hacked the site and posed as this Jimmy and sent this horribly made copy of an AC to the OP and maybe, just maybe, it's an internet scam.

But then I saw the pics of the bass in the AC shop and the pic of Pinnick playing it with Jimmy reaching over and tweakin' the knobs. What do you sposed Jimmy and Dug are talkin' about there? Perhaps Jimmy is explaining why the finish and quality is so low, since it must have been a rough rush job to get it done for the show?

If this thread keeps moving like it is, it's gonna need a Pt. 2 by morning.

Personally, the fact that such a terrible looking and playing bass got out of the shop is disappointing, but humans make mistakes, sometimes really bad mistakes. What is shocking is the possibility that Jimmy Coppolo knew this bass was subpar and dumped it someone who bought from him in good faith.

These circumstances are why I think it is a slur to mention Squier or SX in relation to this A-C bass. Squier honestly tries to make good basses at a low price point and so does SX. They do not misrepresent obviously flawed instruments.

+1 we'll have to see how this one turns out...
