My HORRIBLE Alleva-Coppolo experience...

So sad to see this. And WOW did this thread blow up quickly!!!

Here's my thoughts:
1. This bass should have never left the shop. Sometimes, ya just can fix stuff, and it needs to go into the kindling pile.

2. It's Sunday. I say we give Jimmy a day or two MORE to do the right thing or at least respond. Possibly someone in this board who has a relationship with him could point out this thread.

3. I'm of a mind to agree with everyone here, but I can't help but think that Jimmy would make this right.

Glad I didn't disappoint. Looks like I'm not the only one.
I'm sure Jimmy will recover from this, but being removed from your signature?...I'm not too sure.

No doubt some issues going on there, so who knows. I definitely do not recommend them anymore due to the unfortunate inconsistencies (that are all too clear in this thread and others), and the lack off customer service. Very sad IMO. Amazing instruments (my LM5 is among the best instruments I've ever owned). Nothing else like them that I've played (the combination of old wood, classic design, great B strings, and his unique electronics).

Let's hope he gets this figured out. Chris Celinder ended up in a similar situation. Another amazing luthier who, for whatever reason, ended up 'screwing the pooch' regarding delivery times, service, price value, and in some cases, quality. I guess it happens. Tough business. Fodera had their VERY dark days also, but that has been a wonderful recovery with Jason now involved. Jimmy needs a Jason!

so sad to see and hear that, i have owned a lot of high end basses, i have 2 alleva coppolo at this moment, and recommend then to all my friends two friends bought an AC after play mine LG5 NY era, the list Jimmy can do is give your another bass. a decent one hopefully you have this straight up and hopefully the AC get back on track with his awesome basses.

The legal costs to do this would be prohibitive. The retainer a lawyer would require would be as much as the OP spent on this disgraceful instrument.

Not really...you could go to small claims court and unless he has"all sales are final" in a signed invoice, it would be hard for AC to win.

And his time wasted is worth way more than the OP's. Probably recover filling fees too.

Wow! I guess I'm crossing this joker off my GAS list. I did a Warmoth p bass build earlier this year and shot it using rattle cans from Guitar Reranch. It was the 1st time I've ever finished a guitar and I'll tell you it's a damn sight better than that! Really quite pathetic.

To the OP, I wish you all the best to a speedy resolution.

I gather you've never gone through Small Claims court? It's a total farce. Granted my experience with SCCourt has been in MA. Now maybe the SCCourt system in NY is more effective, but I very much doubt that.

253 views on the video now.....and this thread is absolutely blowing up!

It's really a shame, because I recently started entertaining the idea of a AC bass. They seemed to be such great sounding instruments.

The OP really deserves a full refund and formal apology. I don't see how Jimmy's rep can weather this storm unless he makes things right.

FWIW, for those calling for Jimmy to respond here, I doubt that'd ever happen... no way that could go well. Instead, he should simply resolve issues directly with the OP and have the OP close the thread based on the fact he'd been satisfied, though probably sad it got this far before that happened.

And regarding Jimmy knowing about this thread... yeah, I'd be shocked if he wasn't told before page 3... especially since there's a link to it in the main AC club thread, which is how I got here (and probably many of the rest of us).

It's been around a while. Did you know Dug Pinnick of King's X played it? I'm sure what you have now is not the setup Dug likes.

Man.....this has "hurry up and finish it the night before we leave for the show!!!" written ALL over it. Been there done that (in a different industry). Bad, bad stuff. Best of luck to the OP.
I do suspect this will end well. Clearly not the norm for AC.

I have not read the entire thread. I did read the OP's initial post very carefully, and I think that he is entirely reasonable and deserves support from this community. I can relate to the passion and excitement of anticipating a dream fulfilled followed by disappointment, frustration, and the feeling of being taken advantage of.
IMHO, the ONLY way that Jimmy can hope to salvage the AC brand's committment to providing top quality instruments to serious bassists is to make this right with the OP immediately.
I would suggest that the bass be returned with full refund ASAP.
I would suggest he then offer to build the OP a perfect custom spec'd instrument ASAP at cost, to his full satisfaction. The BEST resolution would be for the OP to wind up owning an AC bass that he can be happy with and share his satisfaction and enthusiasm with the TB community.
We all make mistakes. It's human. But it's not too late for Jimmy to make this an opportunity to show what he can do to correct his errors and, subsequntly, sell a lot more basses to alot off happy bassists.
Good luck to OP and thank you for sharing your saga with us.

I would like to hear Jimmy's explanation for the shoddy workmanship. I don't think the OP is in the "Let's Make a Deal" mode anymore. This thread may go away.......but it won't be forgotten. Certainly he must care about his reputation enough to address this openly. Then again.......

OP -- i was watching a youtube vid of you playing your 519 this weekend. Convinced me to keep my sonus 5, you are a great player and the bass sounded killer. I hope AC makes this right.

Also today i was looking at alleva coppolo pickups and the whole site is listed a "potentially compromised" by google. Not a warm fuzzy when thinking about punching in a credit card number.
