My nephew makes bad music

from the libretto:

Let me tell you about my baby
She's got a face
She's got two eyes
One nose
One mouth
And two ears
Let me tell you about her arms
She's got two and two hands
Each with five fingers
That makes ten fingers to touch me with
My Baby is a Human Being
She's A Person
My Baby is a Human Being
She's A Person Her internal organs are covered in blood
That protects the blood from being exposed
She's got two legs
With two feet attached to the legs
Each with five toes
That's ten total
And other body parts
My Baby is a Human Being
She's A Person My Baby is a Human Being
She's A Person My Baby is a Human
She's Alive My Baby is a Human Being
She's a Person
She feels emotions
And possesses cognitive abilities not seen in other such animals such as full blown language capacity as well as reasoning and planning abilities
My Baby is a Human Being
She's A Person
My Baby is a Human Being
She's A Person
My Baby is Alive
It makes me so glad that I'm alive That I'm Alive
That I'm Alive

Just curious, why is the 'beat' so important? Isn't what's on top the main point? It just seems like a minor quibble.

I guess it depends on genre, for this comedic music it can slide. However let's say of this wasn't comedic in any way. The instrumental I won't even say its bad but just generic and way over charged for the artist. As a bass player we all know we may not be front of the mix but we make it move. The beats for this was well compenent musicians making generic stuff to riff over for a comedian.

Look at comedic rapper Lil Dicky, he has mustard on the beat. One of the top dogs making his beats. And lil dicky is a good rapper just funny. But with good beats and vocals it slaps and sells a lot.

No matter the genre instruments count, even if it is simple it counts. The beat controls the cadence, structure, and flow of the song. If this dude dropped thousands he could have had more relevant music. This sounded like studio musicians making early 2000s UK rap beats. 20 years out dated he could have gotten some instrumentals for way less. And not have to change 350 for an album and then he would sell more.
