My nephew makes bad music

Ok been here less than a month, and already pulled under the bridge by a troll!!!

Well played! Hope you get some success, but not my type of music. My question, should we tell your brother? Or has that bridge been burned, after a troll was discovered hiding under it?

The music and the whole Bandcamp site feels very tongue-in-cheek and purposely absurd. I think the kid is just goofing around. The digital album is $250 and he's selling a damp napkin for $30 for crying out loud!

It's pretty clearly this and folks missing it have me scratching my head.

As much as I like the album, it is hardly au currant in style. In fact, it sound and feels a bit like something from twenty years ago. It's just that Talk Bass taste tends to skew toward trends and genres 30-50 years old.
So this isn't youth goosing old farts so much as the middle-aged vs OFs.

Dude, are you nuts? Your nephew is AWESOME. (Is that him on the album cover? I hope so... ) Now, to be fair, I'm biased, because I've been in and out of a band just like this for the last 20 years--we make ridiculously stupid music that makes us (and a few other people) laugh, but that generally makes most people uncomfortable and irritated. Why? Because it's FUN! That's all your nephew's doing...he's enjoying himself. Nothing wrong with that. And the lyrics and liner notes are hilarious--I mean, if his mom and Aunt Melba can't laugh at that, what can they laugh at? Seriously...leave him alone. He knows what he's doing...

By all means. He'll never speak to you again, and what with your sneering contemptuous judgement of what is actually some fairly decent music and your willingness to violate confidences, I think the young man will be far better off.

THere was a guy who had real issues with his dad....last name Jackson, IIRC. He went on to a decent amount of success and fame. Of course, there was....well.....that.

Don't get me wrong, I love my nephew more than the world. I was elated when he told me he was going to pick up a guitar and start recording some music. He recently put out some recordings on Bandcamp. It's intentionally bad, or something. There's barely even any guitar parts. It's just a big disappointment for me. I wanted him to be the next Joe Cocker, I think he has that potential.

WHat he did put together is not even guitar based and frankly the material is rude and offensive. I have a mind to tell his parents about these recordings, as he told me he's kept it secret from them. the music reveals personal relationship information about both his parents and himself. They wouldn't be happy to learn about their love lives and family secrets being put out in the open like that.

What should I do? Should I tell my brother?

If it's intentionally bad, or something, pretend you never saw it, or something. Choose your battles, don't open a can of worms, stay out of your brother's teenage kid's business, etc. save yourself the trouble
