My new Sadowsky is Crap!!!!

A little note on my new Sadowsky 5 string

I sold my 4 year old Sadowsky NYC jj 5 for this new bass. First time I saw it at the shop and played it, I knew it was perfect for me. Couldnt get it out of my head. Luckily, things fell together timing wise and I was able to pick it up last Monday. Since, I've had 5 shows with it. What can I say. Its truly remarkable. Thick, punchy, cutting tone. The Nordstrand big singles in the J bass positions really surprised me once I got it out at the gig. They sounded great at home but live even better. Minimal hum, punchy/distinctive j bass tone mixed with the awesome preamp. Was able to get great, musical tones however I twisted the pan knob. I found this bass to be deeper and thicker so I hardly needed to add bass boost(maybe 10% or so). Never needed the treble boost and left the VTC full on(I never roll it off, not my thing).

Also, the bass looks, plays, feels tremendous. Super light at 7.7lbs. My bandmates were floored at the lightweight. Had it setup on delivery with light SS strings and very low action. I was able to play effortlessly. One thing I really like is that the Nordstrands are housed in big humbucker-like casings. This is a cool change from typical thin J bass pickups. It allowed me to use the casings almost like many guys would use a ramp installed on their basses. A precussive type thing as I play quicker passages. Real cool!!

Overall, couldnt be happier. I sold a dear old friend in my JJ5 to get her but I honestly have no regrets. Spectacular tone, feel, lightweight, playability.

The staff at Sadowsky were great in helping. Put it on hold for me for a couple days 'till I get down there again to play it once again. Thanx to Kevin, Lisa, Rob, Nino, Dave, Rob, Matt, Jeff, and Julian. Grand thanx to Roger. I know your on vacation but if you happen to read this thread I can't thank you enough for the last 6 years of great service, friendliness, advice, etc. You are the best. You staff mirrors you.

I bought it first and it was a bit too noisy when the PUPS weren't dead centered so I returned it....NOW I am wondering if it was the place I used it (small project recording studio). I only got a chance to really try it briefly before I had to make the decision to keep it or not...Maybe the Gods gave me some dirty AC or something so you could get it? LOL! Not sure but anyway I am REALLY glad that you got it! Great playing bass and probably the lightest 5 string I have ever seen....I may wake up one day and regret not keeping that one too...LOL!

Congrats again Rob, it looks even better on you.

I was smelling war when I read the thread title...until I saw your name :D

By the way, I recorded some clips with my Sadowsky's last night. A real A/B for humcancelling vs single coils. I haven't heard them yet because it was late at night and my kids were sleeping, so I recorded without hearing the bass, just a drum machine and the unamplified bass, I'll check it out later today and I'll open a thread soon...

...now back to the white wonder!!! :bassist:
