My New Studio Build (perhaps overly detailed)

That may be the case, however the alarming number of doors I've seen that were either not hung square and plumb (i.e. they constantly try to open or clothes themselves), or ones that don't have an even seal all the way around makes me think there's a difference between hanging the door and hanging it well. Since isolation doors are so particular when it comes to getting the seals right, I'm going to enlist the help of a professional.
Weekend construction plans:
- Remove all of the flooring shims
- Sweep and clean the installed flooring
- Put down construction resin paper over all of the flooring
- Relocate everything back into the vestibule
- Install the HRV
Damn weather forecast... 
My initial plan today was to install the HRV. The weather forecast changed and said it was going to rain most of the day. Based on that, and not wanting water to get into the two 5” holes I have to drill in the north wall for the HRV I decided to postpone. Hasn’t rained a drop all day!
Oh well. At least I got the flooring covered with construction resin paper to keep it from getting scratched up as I come down the final stretch.

Working on the HRV today. I’m currently on-hold waiting for my drill to cool down. It started smoking, so...

I can see daylight, and the cutout is flexing, but the drill is having one heck of a time getting through the Hardiplank siding, which is a mixture of wood and concrete.

might be too late, but now that you have an index point, I'd drill the Hardiplank from the outside.
You can also start the hole w/ the carbide hole saw, then switch to a 1/4" masonry bit, and drill a series of holes around the circumference cut that the hole saw marked.

No good. I’ve been doing that. The issue is that the bi-metal hole saw isn’t sufficient for cutting through the cement board. I need a carbide hole saw, but can’t find any locally. Time to order one online.
Exactly. I’m surprised the smaller hole I cut for the mini split went as well as it did. Oh well. Just ordered a carbide hole saw from Grainger. $78 and it won’t be here until Wednesday.
When they put in the tankless water heater, they needed to drill a big hole through the concrete wall. The air in and air out are via the same hole.
They subcontracted out to a guy who cut holes in walls for a living. He had a huge drill and a monster bit. IIRC the hole was 6" across.
I didn't see the bit, but it must have been some sort of huge hole saw since it left a nice clean plug of concrete. It did not have an index drill in the middle since the plug is complete.

My new 5" carbide hole saw is scheduled for delivery tomorrow. That means I'll be clear to finish the HRV installation over the weekend, assuming nothing else gets in the way.
In semi-related news; I had to deal with a $4,000 plumbing fiasco over the last two days. That's not the kind of dough you want to lay out when there's studio building to get wrapped up!

For 78 bucks, I hope you get more than one use out of it!
Maybe when you're through with the HRV you can use it to prospect for hydrocarbon deposits in your backyard. A producing oil well would buy a lot of outboard gear!

The ducts are supposedly 125mm, which equates to 4.92”. I used a 5” hole saw, and yet the ducts don’t quite fit into the holes.
This is the kind of stuff that makes me want to rage quit.
Looks like I need to go and buy some sort of hole rasp to slightly widen the interior and exterior openings.
I used this file to widen the holes. There’s basically zero tolerance, but everything is through cleanly.
