You are right, sir. They were famous for (mis)using the tape speed control for effect and pitch shift. So, same same but different.
Just added a 20” Sabian HHX China to the studio kit. I’m calling that complete. Well... I wouldn’t mind a 5” deep wood snare to have as an option... okay so it’s not yet complete
Not quite. The HRV is still not working, and the interface saga continues.

My wife got me a print of the opening lyric from one of my favorite tunes for the open wall space in the studio above my desk. She did it in colors that match my logo and offset against the dark blue walls. Digging this.
finally took down the HRV to repair it. I’ve not found an easy way to open up the unit or the controller. I’ll probably end up taking it somewhere to get repaired.
Very nice work! I built my own home studio back in 2008, and it was quite an adventure. I had to read books on studio design/construction, asked a ton of questions on pro audio forums, and did a ton of research on various products and construction materials.

Finally got the HRV repaired. Just picked it up from the repair shop. Cost $100 for the repair, but it would have been $540 to replace it. The speed control for the unit has three settings and then an off position. I told him that setting three had never worked, but I assumed they just used the same controller for multiple units and this one only utilized two of the settings. When I picked it up today he said that it now works on all settings. The short ended up frying the controller and a couple of components in the unit itself.
Regardless... I now have fresh air in the studio once again without the need to open the doors!

Got the HRV re-installed and finally wall-mounted the controller.
Also, I got rid of the 61-key MIDI controller I was using and went with a smaller 25-key unit with some good pads. Much more functional for a non-piano player that only occasionally needs to score parts in MIDI. Additionally I added a Softube Console 1 which I’m still getting used to but am really enjoying to expedite my mixing workflow.

Keen to hear your thoughts on the console 1 once you have had a good play with it
I’ve been casually mixing on it for the last few days. I’ve done three songs thus far. It’s incredible. The workflow isn’t just smooth and fast, it’s also very intuitive. The results have been great. I finished a mix of my band’s debut single just before I got it and am now tempted to go back and redo it on Console 1. Total game changer for me.
Follow-up on my comment regarding the Softube Console 1: Over the weekend I mixed tracks from Colin Hay, Allen Stone, Daddy D, Candlebox, and Gang of Thieves using the Console 1. I'm sold. 100%. Everything comes together so quickly with this thing that I'm shocked. It also does a great job of downplaying the "mixing with your eyes" phenomenon that's so easy to fall prey to when using modern DAWs and plugins with such interactive GUIs.
This looks like the place I went to buy a used Strymon pedal board power supply a few months ago from this very nice gentleman. What a terrific room!
