My Next G&L Should be??

The G&L bass is the L2000, or if you prefer a 5 string the L2500. IMHO that is the quintessential G&L bass. Lots of options are available on them so make sure you know what neck is on it if you go for the 4 string.

An SB-2 or Kiloton if you want to stay with a passive bass.

Tough call...

I own a LB-100 and a L-2500.

If I was to get another, I'd have a hard time choosing between the L-1000 (in that pharaoh gold firemist finish...dayum it's pretty) and the Kiloton. The Fallout seems pretty cool too but I can't get past the racing stripe...I'm too old and serious for that!

In your case, I'd say get a L-2000 or L-2500...that's pretty much the G&L flagship bass if you ask me.

While I have much love for the L-1000, the L-2000/2500 offers you the ability to sound like a close approximation of many popular basses, plus has a character "all its own". It is near the top of the list of the most versatile basses I've owned. If you like a more "traditional" active control set, then the M-2000/2500 would fit the bill, but (IMO) it doesn't have exactly the same "bite" of the L series. The good news - whichever G&L you pick, you can't go wrong.

My L2000 is my favorite all time 4-string. (Love the L2500 too...But the L2000's neck has that magic mojo!)

Get an ASAT if you love neck-dive.

I played an ASAT fretless for years. Neck dive was never a problem....

It definitely hangs differently from a "standard" shaped bass. I never had an issue with it, but I could see why many people do. They just look so cool!

Yes, they hang different, the nut is about 4" farther away from your shoulder than on a L-2000, making it a little more difficult to play than a L-2000.

+1 here. My Tribute L2500 is so good that it's my main bass. I would also LOVE to get my hands on a Kiloton - the demo vids are killer!

The MJ4's are also great, what to buy next? ... I would recommend an M2000...a L2000 and a JB.

Another vote for "vintage." I've owned a few 80's G&L's (Lynx, SB-1 and SB-2) and they were all very comfy players.

I love vintage. I owned a G&L L1000 new, back in 1980. If I could find that bass again, I'd buy it in an instant. But, there's something to the six bolt neck on the newer G&L's. Plus, I love the slim C profile on my CLF L1000. I'm happy with a new one!

One thing I'd like to add about the L2000's is that you need to try an older one, a new one and a Tribute. I own the CLF L1000 and a Tribute L2000. While I am amazed at how good the Indonesian L2000 is for the money, there is enough of a difference between it and a US version. Play them and see for yourself. I bought my L2000 new for a really good price so I couldn't pass it up. I also know that next year I'll likely be buying a US version and selling this one only because I can see and feel the differences. For some, the differences may not be significant enough for the price differential. YMMV.

I have an MJ4, and an SB-2. Perfect combination!

SB2T is my favorite 4 string ever. But I play 5r’s so I vote L2500.
