My Number One

After years of thinking I would never enjoy a Music Man I finally bought this bass in November. The feel is excellent and the sound is perfect. I play it at church all the time. It's currently wearing D'Addario ProSteels but I have a list of things to do to it- new Hipshot tuners, TI Jazz Flats and a setup. Once funds allow I'll get those things done. Can't wait!

Completely stock EBMM Sterling. Around 2013 I believe. It replaced my '89 Warwick Streamer as gigging bass.
This thing just thrives in a band. Cuts through the mix, built like a tank but with a bit smaller body than a 'ray and with the jazz neck size I'm used to.
Easy to operate, always sounds great with the rest of the boys.

Just can't forget to bring a spare 9V battery..

Regards
Mark
The EBMM Sterling is just a fantastic bass. I’ve had great battery experience with mine (but always have a spare!)

@billiam5billion that’s a gorgeous bass. I’m a big fan of the telebass pickguard.

Here’s my #1, a modified 2010 Squier VM Precision Bass TB. It’s had the pickup rewound by Jerry Sentell, frets removed, electronics swapped for CTS, bone nut installed, fretboard radiused/trued, and added Hipshot ultralite tuners. I’m on the fence about adding an extra pickup in the bridge spot currently.

This is just a quick appreciation post for my number one, The Mutt, The Machine, The Howler.

Just two gorgeous chunks of Swamp Ash, sealed in Tru-Oil, mated to a mid-90’s Mexican Jazz neck, complete with cigarette stains on the headstock and chewed up where the strings clack off the bottom of the fretboard.

Gotoh 201 bridge.

She’s been through multiple electronics swaps, is currently loaded with an EMG Geezer.

just the best pal a guy could ask for. Let’s hear it for the number ones!

The one on the left

Warmoth G4 body with an EMG MMCS pickup in the sweet spot and a JCS up close to the neck, VVT controls. I usually run the MM pickup wide open and blend in the J to taste and to add a bit more depth to the sound when I want it. The neck is a Warmoth tiltback, roasted maple with a lined ebony board. It's strung with La Bella 750N tapes right now, which I'm rather enjoying. I've had a few stints with tapes now. Each time I think I might become a full-time tapes guy, but at some point the honeymoon ends and I go back to Sunbeams. This time I'm not so sure though. Maybe I have become a tapeworm, because it's been weeks and I am still loving these strings.

The bass on the right is great too, certainly worthy of Number One status as well, but I don't pick it up quite as much as the one on the left.
