Just a random thought, but shouldn't those linear bearings be mounted with the opening facing down?
It looks like they are drilled and tapped on the sides, too.
My guess is they will be only half as effective mounted as they are currently:

They're supported rail bearings to be mounted so that the opening faces a rail support. In this case the rail supports (bolts from gantry to rail) will be facing the rear of the gantry. That last picture was from the eBay seller. They've got the bolts in holes that are actually for set screws to adjust lash on the bearing. It confused the heck out of me at first. The Seller is a resale company so I think they just stuck them together best they figured.
