My preamp journey

This just came out, and I think it's interesting:

+ A pedal that runs tone models you can edit on the computer and use live,
+ Tone models can be selected in a 1000+ library (*)
+ Or you can capture the tone model of your prefered gear (requires additonal Tonex Capture hardware, but it's affordable)
+ What I think is really great is that you have an instant access to gain, EQ and volume knob!
+ Can be used as an audio interface
+ Includes IRs obviously
+ Affordable
- No DI out

(*) Well most of them are for guitars, but I found 241 bass models, including all the Ampeg stuff from B15 to SVT+fridge

These have alot of cool features but has a 80's calculator screen, no di, no effects loop, can't load pedal captures and amps at the same time , and sadly not many built in effects. If they added those missing features and had a decent color screen I'd be pretty interested.

Not sure why anyone would want this over an HX Stomp. That display has a real 1987 vibe, though...;-)

Still on the fence about the Noble. I picked up and sold the Khan, and have the SVT-DI in the classifieds. I liked them both, but not what I am looking for. Both added quite a bit of punch and heft, but in the end not what I was looking for.

The Demeter is very nice - it's smooth and robust, adds a lot of fullness to my tone. It might be a keepers.

I also just pulled the trigger on a Motor City Big Block DI. Been looking at that and the Acme Motown DI, but the BB came up here. I've heard nothing but rave reviews.

I'm looking at the Dub, but wanted to see if one turned up used.

GAS is a wonderful thing!

I've also been messing with the Stomp XL. It's funny - I was exposed to tech (computers) at a very early age, I've been working in IT all of my adult life, but I just really prefer physical knobs when it comes to music gear. Not that the Stomp is bad - it's actually an awesome piece of gear. I paired it with the Sushibox Finally and it's a great combo.

Here's also the latest iteration of my small board. I sill need to wire it up, but I think it's pretty much done.

Thanks to everyone who took the time to read and respond to all of my musings, I hope some of the info was useful :)

I've worked IT as well forever I spend enough time on computers, For now I'm not interested in the least of having a pedal that requires I spend more time on a PC, phone or acts as such.

yeah that's it right there. I spend all day staring at a screen and pushing buttons, the last thing that I want to do is to carry that over to my leisure time.

Jefe, the MCBB looks really interesting. I'll enjoy hearing your thoughts on it. Are those shipping right out- will you have it this week?

Edit: For those interested, here's the scubaduba thread: Motor City Big Block DI I'm working my way through it now.
Out for delivery! I'll let you know what I think tonight.

I’ve tried the usual preamps/di’s and decided to go with the Noble after all the hype. My question is it worth it to pay the rush fee? I’d love to replace my Bass Simplifier di but conflicted on whether I can justify the rush fee price tag. For those of you that have it, would you pay the rush fee because it is the crucial of a piece of gear?

Interesting question!
I've seen Nobles go used for two grand recently, and the forty weeks wait is quite substantial - as is the rush fee. I'd wager that you could buy one with the rush fee, try it out when it arrives and sell it for the amount you paid if it does not blow your socks off.
The amount of that fee seems very well chosen - if you're really in a rush, you'll pay it. If you have the time, you'll order your Christmas present now.

If my Noble disappeared right now, I think I'd pay the rush.

For me, gig season is coming up and if I'd order right now, I'd have it just in time.

It amuses me that even with a "rush fee" you still have to wait 6 weeks. I guess it means that quite a few people are willing to pay that $680 extra fee.
