Oh, and I also picked up a Broughton Messenger Jr. in the latest drop. I happened to be online, got the email and pulled the trigger. It's a really nice pedal and very handy. I think that I mentioned before that it pairs very well with a Fender tone stack - the Messenger Jr, Sushibox UA, and a little duo lock, and you got yourself a nice little grab and go preamp.
That sounds even more useful than the Studio One to me.
The lows look to be shelving with a corner of 80Hz, not a regular bell at 40Hz like the S1 has.
I made a few clones of the ss/bs mini with the pot value that gives more bass. As the topology is so similar to the Fairfield Barbershop I used the JFet values used on that … it sounds amazing - I love the way it can go from really low gain overdrive through to fuzz and is really touch sensitive - I set it up so it’s clean but I can dig in for some drive

PSA - not gear related, but definitely bass related. Don't mess around with hand problems. I've had numerous issues over the years, most recently a nagging injury from a dog bite. My hand was swollen and started getting stiff, so I finally went back to the doc. She did a minor procedure, and I thought I was going to be out of commission for awhile, but I got better very quickly - the difference is night and day! I wish I would have gone sooner!

From the moment I realized these are aussie dollars to the moment the confirmation mail arrived in my inbox it took less than a minute.
I don't even need a pedal like that.
But thinking about building a chain of a maxed out FPT into a BDPG into a chorus into the px-101 set to low pass and the filter frequency controlled by an expression pedal sounds like a lot of fun.
I really loved the Moog MF-101, but I hated the size, the noise and the 12V center positive requirement.

I'm also recovering. Not from a dog bite, more of a dog attack. I had to fight off the dog and it took giving the dog a bloody nose to take the fight out of him.
I suffered severe injuries to both hands, but the injury to my left hand was much worse and required surgery. My right hand is about 99% recovered now. My left hand will take about a year for all of the nerves to fully regenerate. The nerve damage was too extensive to splice the nerves back together. The surgeon had to install tubes to hold the nerve strands in a position to where they will eventually grow back together. But, I am able to play now.
I'll spare everyone the bloody pics.
I am sorry to hear about that! Sounds like you got it way worse than I did, I couldn't imagine not knowing if i could ever play again, and all of the surgery you had to go through - I'm glad you are better and able to play now brother!
JFC that's cool. I never had a Moog of any type - couldn't get past the size, but this looks quite tasty!
You know, the hardest part, back when it happened is that I had ordered a new bass guitar and it arrived the day after the attack.
There it sat looking beautiful in the guitar stand for 6 weeks before I was able to play it.
Not being able to play again never entered my mind. I would have stopped at nothing come hell or high water to find a way to play. I would have become the one-handed tapper if that was what it took.
That's awesome. I used to be primarily a six string player - I had the Yamaha TRB-6 with a wide neck, and it was my main bass for many years. I fell and dislocated my ring finger and pinky on my fretting hand pretty badly, and it took quite a bit of rehab to be able to play bass again, and to this day a sixer will give me issues if I play one for a long time. Fours (and most fives) are no issue tho!
I never intended to really put the Moog to use, but I wanted to play one to get a feel for it. To this date, I think it is the most chewy and juicy envelope pedal.
It's also very easy and intuitive to set. If that copy manages to get the same sound (or a close enough approximation) without the disadvantages . . ..
I really do hope the sidewalls are metal with wood glued on top instead of solid wood like on the Moog.
I been playing 5-stringers since 1996 or so. I got tired of the piano player playing lower notes than me. That plus, I got tired of only having the option of walking down to the E string. 5-strings gave me options.
I don't have anything against 4-stringers, though, and I rarely play below low D. It just gives me more options.
