I noticed that too. I'm pretty sure it doesn't affect playability or tone much... maybe not at all... at least humanly perceivably, but I wonder if a slight headstock redesign to keep the string paths more straight might be best in the long run.

Still loving the look of those Model B's, but the 1 1/2" with at the nut for a 4 banger is a deal breaker for me.

Wish it was available with a Precision size neck.

It wouldn't hurt to ask. The 1.5 " is standard, but Pete might be willing/able to work with you.

FWIW, those are not Pete's normal strings. He was out of them. They use a custom taper, so that you are not cranking full wraps around that post. Once I switch out to a properly tapered B-string, I don't think the angle will be nearly as great.

Yeah, thats cool. Might throw people who would normally use DR strings or something. I seriously dig the look of the bass though. How come no first fret block?

That's a decision that Pete made with regard to his blocks. He likes to put blocks where you would normally find position markers, and therefore opted against putting one at the 1/2 position mark.

Yeah, except I can see where folks would expect to see one at that position because they were blocks... e.g. the Fender Jazz bass and most, if not all, other block inlay basses I can recall seeing... Sadowsky, Nordy, Warrior, Celinder, Warmoth, etc.

Block inlays started with Gibson and the Les Paul - which have no first position block either. Not that Pete went with what was first, but there is certainly precedence to do it the way he chose to do it

Those look like D'addario strings. Color coded ball ends and no silk wrap...

I did, and he's wasn't willing to do that.

Very good comunications, and Pete seemed like a real class act.

On guitar, the gap between nut and 3rd fret isn't quite as far as on a bass. On a bass it is just visually strange to me to see a gap that large.

That's MHO as well (tho I will definitely stop WAY short of saying the LPs with blocks don't look good, because they look KILLER... I just would have personally chosen to add that first block, is all). I wonder if that's why Fender chose to put that first block in since it was a bass in their case?
