Why no first fret blocklike Les Pauls and SGs that do that, it looks incomplete.
(otherwise they are looking KILLER!!!)
I'd be willing to bet that it'll look fine once it's completed and strung up. I was just looking at a pic of my latest bass and it doesn't have a first fret block either and it looks fine IMO.

Not to me.... I know it follow pattern (a block in the 13th fret would be silly), but the empty 1st fret is a deal breaker to my eyes.
Other than the missing one (in my view), Pete's blocks are looking amazing! They aren't little blocks on a wide neck like some 5+ string builders do (another deal breaker for me) either
He'd do a 1st Fret Marker if you asked I'm sure
but will he do 34" scale, 19mm bridge spacing AND 7 string????
I've played one of Pete's regular designs (5 string at the last NJ GTG)... If I ever need a bass replaced I'll be bending his ear

I believe he has already done all three of those things (not sure about the 19mm thing, but his bridge does adjust to some pretty wide spacing), but not in the same bass.
Yeah he can do all that James. He will be offering 34" scale versions next year on everything I believe. His bridge adjusts from 17-19mm I believe. And 7-string is not a problem.

Tom, how does Pete's Lion's Pride line work? Is the Lion's Pride basically just another body shape (i.e., it comes in the same model specs as his normal models like Pro, Custom, Exotic Custom, etc), or does it have its own feature set?

The Lion's Pride line actually has a Model A (like the bass that is the subject of this thread), and also a Model B, which is more a 'P-bass-inspired' instrument. Here is my finished Model B:
The pickup locations on the Model A are different from Pete's typical layout (and are in approximately the same location as a 70's J-bass), though the pickup in the Model B is pretty much where the C4 would go on one of Pete's other basses. You have the full range of pickups and preamps available, whether you go with a Lion's Pride model, or another Skjold model.

I wouldn't say approximately, the standard position for the C4 is about an inch further south. Much more Musicman than P bass.
