What don't you like about the "trussrod cover"? Its very similar to what MTD does. Its actually a heal plate FYI.

There is no trussrod cover. I think you're referring to his neck joint design, which has a matching figured topwood lam on it, right? I don't mind it with the lam on there, but without it, it does look a bit odd to me... at least on a bass with a figured top anyway.

It sticks out like a sore thumb due to the grain pattern. It needs to be bookmatched as well. My MTD 535 truss rod cover matches the fingerboard (so does the headstock)

If it is a healplate, what the heck is it needed for? Why not make a slot like Brubaker.

I am always torn as to which way to go with that 'neck pocket cover plate', or whatever you want to call it. Pete normally fits in a piece from the topwood, here, but it's hard to make it match exactly, especially if there is some crazy grain going on. I pretty much accept that the grain isn't going to be 'bookmatched', and I like the look pretty well. The other look is to have the 'plate' match the fingerboard, as I did on my 'P-bass', here:

I like both looks, really, and it's kinda cool to have the option, I think.

The truss rod adjustment is, indeed, there, but it is not a 'cover', like on an MTD. It is a fixed 'plate.'

You should see these basses in person! My house is about 4 miles from Pete's shop...and they are going to look WICKED!

The craftsmanship is really superior. You see it in the seems and joints. They look great and after strapping on a body and neck blank, the ergonomics are going to be tremendous.

True, except it can be done, as I've seen other builders do it, so maybe that can be another area to further refine. One thing about Pete is, he's always on the move when it comes to design AND manufacturing refinements.

Also, it's a good reason to be happy about selecting something like quilted birdseye, at least in my case... Looks pretty good despite lack of official grain matching.

I don't think he is currently offering a 6 LP. He might in the future though, just takes some playing around with the headstock layout. Its really only sized for a 4 or 4+1. This is only the first round of LPs, and Im sure new things will pop up with regards to them as he makes more of them and refines the design more and more.

That neck plate thing is so minor that I erased my post commenting on it. That bass is smoking!
