N.B.A. thread

It's going to be interesting to see how now that LeBron has made his decision, where the rest of the free agents will land. Carmelo just wants money so I'm guessing New York for him. But Chris Bosh might get a lot of interest now. He's not a superstar but can be a game changer.

All the more reason why it would have been epic for him to do it.

David Wright then for a quick example.
True, but in the NBA these days--right or wrong--you've gotta have at least a couple titles to be considered one of the best. No way that was happening in Cleveland. It may now in a couple years if all the talent develops and/or they reel in Kevin Love. Indeed, James couldn't attract talent like Love to Cleveland until he won the rings.

Wright is 11 seasons in, but only 31. Things could change.

You could even argue that leaving helped Cleveland a lot more than it hurt them. You are probably a decent, above the middle of the pack team with LeBron and not much of a supporting cast. Instead, 4 years later you have 3 #1 draft picks, one a superstar, youth, good foundation...etc.

LA's always been a free-agent magnet, though. Kobe's played alongside Shaq (Finals MVP in all 3 of their title years), Malone and Payton, Gasol (who they got in trade for a ham sandwich), Bynum for his two good years (OK, they drafted him), plus a generally deep bench. Having one of the greatest coaches of all time for most of his career didn't hurt, either.

Bosh looks like a lock to go to Houston. I hope Melo comes to Chicago, but he probably will stay in NY for the $$.

Love already basically saying he wants to go to Cleveland. Love throwing passes to LBJ could be pretty sweet - Irving, LeBron and Love is a better big 3 than Wade, Bosh and LBJ... If love goes, Cleveland wins it all next year, and they should have no problem attracting cheaper extra pieces who want to win.

So when are they going to make the NBA OFFICIALLY 6 teams and just be done with it? Then they could shorten the season, number of games and every fan honestly feels like their team has a shot. The NBA is all but unwatchable any more.

Sorry, just a get off my lawn moment...

All your celebrity fans have put on Clippers gear.:D

The Clippers had a lot of celebrity fans when they were a horrible team. Celebs just didn't wear "gear" in those days.

You want even more socialism in how the league is operated?

Whoops, Bosh coming back to Miami. I think they're overpaying him, but I'm still glad he's back.

Yeah that's a lot for a pretty good player, not great, and paying him until he's 35. His game will age well since he plays off smarts and not so much athleticism, but it takes up a lot of there cap room.

Curious as to what D Wade thinks. He sacrificed his paycheck to keep everyone but now that LeBron left, and Bosh gets a max deal, I'm sure him being the face of that franchise still is going to want top dollar. Which he deserves more so for loyalty but maybe 2 years max. He won't like that.

Holy cow that's awesome! The Rockets franchise had absolutely no respect for Lin... Hope the Lakers treat him good!

Good for him because yeah Houston didn't treat him too well. And there is a huge Asian market in LA that will support him. Unfortunately his play style doesn't mesh well with a ball dominate player like Kobe. Him as a slashing wing didn't work out in the end of the NY run or Houston. And we all know Kobe wants the ball in his hand. Still glad he gets a second chance somewhere else.

I'm not sure they were Clippers fans. None of them were there when the Memorial Sports Arena had a few hundred in attendance. They showed up at Staples Center with the then new arena and the Clippers ads were come see the visiting NBA players
