N.B.A. thread

On another note turns out Gasol signed for 3 years/22 million. Lakers must hate that since I'm reading now there last offer was 2 years/22 million. He did chose winning over money.

And the bulls keep hyping this Nikola Mirotic European dude they finally signed. A 6'10, 3 point shooting big man. If D Rose is truly healthy they might be the eastern favorites.
If everything pans out for Chicago--a healthy Rose, McDermott and Mirotic hit shots and Gasol plays well--they're going to be very good, and deep. Lots of question marks, though.

This could be addition by subtraction for Indy, some of his teammates definitely wanted him gone. But they need to find a talented non-buttwipe to take his place. And Hibbert is still a headcase.

Yeah but as much of a bonehead he was/is he still gave Indy that do it all player they needed to vault to a contender in the east. It slightly reminds me of OKC/Harden. OKC is still in the mix at the top of the west but not the established sure thing every year like I think they could have been with Harden still. So interesting if Indy goes back to being just another team in the hunt now. Don't get me started on Hibbert! Lol

I haven't really been keeping up w/ basketball news since the finals; was NJ going to let Pierce go?
Not necessarily. I mean both Pierce and Garnett where claiming considering retirement. And in Brooklyn's mindset they needed to try to sign him since they're so over the luxury tax they can't really make any moves, but can still sign their own players. But there lack of progress due to cap restraints, and from what I read about the Jason Kidd fallout bothering Pierce, he looked elsewhere.

Fair point. Either way, I believe Indy was going to HAVE to change its roster to get to the NBA finals, never mind win them. The headcases have gotta go.

Edit: I'm not sure Paul George is capable of leading a team to a title, either. He's very good, but I don't know if the sufficient mental makeup is there.

Yeah totally agreed on George. Not saying he won't be that player but I honestly think he had one really good series, in the spotlight, against Miami 2 years ago. Everyone assumed that was his coming out party. He did respond good last year being the leader, but he's still young and unproven. David West won't be reliable much longer either.

They signed Rodney Stuckey to fill the Stephenson void. Reliable OK player, not a headcase, who might work ok in their system. But he's already reached his ceiling. You know what you're getting with him.

To add to their already "what are they doing?" roster, Lakers acquired Carlos Boozer. They had just signed Ed Davis. They have like a million power forwards now, 2 shooting guards that wanna shoot the ball 30 times a game each, and Linsanity and Nash. Just puzzles me.

OK, for some reason, TB won't show the link I've copied and pasted for an Espn story where Lance S. complains about his ability being overshadowed by his own stupid antics. You'll have to look it up yourself, I guess. Anyway, boohoo, Lance.[Invalid or Expired Link Removed]

Man idk if anyone seen the video yet, although it's been around everywhere by now, but Paul George's injury was brutal. Definitely is missing the season and maybe part of next season. Indiana goes from possible favorites in the east to who knows where now.

Yep, there was a separate thread over the weekend about this. Absolutely awful. I hope he recovers, but it's going to be a long fight.

On a much lighter note, Brian Scalabrine penned a hilarious essay.:D Link Removed

Ahhh good old White Mamba. One of those few players who made it on my favorites list even though I never saw him in game for over 40 mins......in his career combined lol

Mark Cuban is absolutely right. It's ridiculous that the NBA teams take on all the financial responsibility when there is an injury and the IOC doesn't while they are making billions. All in the name of nationalism.

Yeah I think he has a strong point and we will see things change going forward. Its always been a topic for discussion from foreign teams. I remember the Yao rockets always mad he played international ball every summer for China. Spurs have had it with Ginobli and Parker respectively with their countries. You can't blame them since there countries demand a lot from them since they have slim pickings. But the US should go back to sending an All College team.

Looks like Kevin Love is going to the Cavs. Everythings agreed upon and there just waiting on the Wiggins 30 day no trade period to go through. This would make the Cavs the favorites in the east I would think, with the Paul George injury and the east always being the easier conference. Lets see how well and quick this new big 3 gel together.

Wow I heard he was broke but can't be that bad. I'm assuming it was some satire report where they exaggerate and assume he's begging for change for a cheeseburger or something but if it's true that really is sad. This is a problem often seen in professional sports though. They sure love those chains million dollar chains though haha Priorities need to be reassessed

Gotta give it to the Wolves. They were able to trade Love, who was gonna walk anyway, and turn it into Thaddeus Young, Andrew Wiggins and Anthony Bennett. Wow. Young is pretty good, I think Wiggins is going to be a star and who knows on Bennett, who was injured last year. This year he is not injured and in shape. Pretty nice haul.
